No Elvis nor Jesus, but a free cup of nice coffee in real cups was served in the öbb first class.

And then from Munich to Venice. In öbb business class. Which is… this? Defs not worth the extra 20 € unless there will be Elvis performing and Jesus doing stand-up.

And most important: mini cabin breakfast. Quite continental. Brought for me to the cabin, reaching for it doubled as morning gymnastics. There was coffee as well.

Mini cabin sleeping experience: worth the price. Which was cheap.
Opening doors and changing lighting cause a beep, which is not loud but audible to closest neighbours. So it was kind of a... drum rolls... beep show. Except for that, it was a peaceful night.
Mattress not too soft, pillow miniscule, used folded trousers as an extra pillow. I didn't sleep too well, but luckily I don't have to be perky today.
Played with the lighting a lot. Sorry, neighbours. Beep!

My first öbb mini cabin! It indeed is… mini. Getting in was easy, but getting out to show my ticket took some time, corduroy friction and all.

The train to Copenhagen indeed was late, so clever me.
A well-known fact, worthy of repeating: there is no restaurant car on Copenhagen-Hamburg train, at least the one that leaves 14:22. Just a snack machine, somewhere, maybe. And the first class coffee booth is taken away well before the German border.
Also, crossing Rendsburg bridge is a great time to stretch and watch the scenery, during and after the big ass loop the train does.

Report from SJ Malmö Lounge: pretty much the same @tml posted yesterday, except for a coffee machine being repared. Noms.
Trains to Copenhagen direction seem to be running late, so I better take an earlier train at the cost of long lunch.

Has anyone ever succeeded in packing the trash back to SJ breakfast box so that the lid closes tidily? It seems the dimensions of the packages change while eating and this deed is impossible.

A tip for those who arrive to Stockholm from Åbo by ferry 6:30 and try to catch the 6:46 bus 53 to central station, but realise that the bus is very late or non-existing, and decide to take a bus to Slussen and change to tunnelbanan there: Slussen has many stops, and some of them are further from the metro station than others.
Anyhow, I made it to 7:22 train to Malmö, but without a first breakfast at SJ lounge. I did have time to buy a pasta salad, in case the train breakfast takes too much time to arrive. So all's good.

Just booked another multi-day train trip, excited to be back on the rails in a few weeks. I was hoping for three trips this year, but this will be only my second. Not a lot of time left in the year for a third one.

Ok, on the rail again. Well, ferry at this point. My route this time is: first as fast as I can from Stockholm to Venice, obviously not skipping Malmö SJ lounge, and getting to test the Nightjet minicabin. A week in Venice, in cheap (yes, you read right) accommodation, which I will report / curse later on, and then to Prague, Signal light festival. A dash to Schemerlicht in Nijmegen and KIKK meeting in Namur, then a superdash to Tartu for Tartu in Light festival, then back home to Helsinki. Should be fun and I'll probably be a zombie by the end of this trip.

Summary: going from Zurich to Ljubljana by 4 trains trough the Austria with changes in Woergl, Schwarzach and Villach took exactly 12 hours and was great. Overall rating is 9/10, I recommend it!
Taking 1 point as bus was fast but not as comfortable as train. -
We're going from Zurich (Switzerland) to Ljubljana (Slovenia) by train with 3 changes. We just boarded on Railjet in Zurich, all the changes will be in Austria, first one in Woergl.
According to the schedule whole journey should take 12 hours 4 minutes. We'll see...
