💯 Fascism is all about gaining power by any means necessary. They want that power so they can lord it over the rest of us - literally - and do horrible things. Fascism attracts perverts and pedos and abusers because it protects them.
Exactly as this post says, they lie to show power and loyalty. The same happens in any autocracy.

This. ALL of this. 100% this. Stop bringing them to the table as equals (I’m thinking specifically of you, Scott Jennings) and demanding proof for all of their lies instead of trying to joust with them. When they loudly challenge your socially positive position and suggest you are for crime, terrorism, or some kind of “perversion” of “Christian values” simply tell them that’s stupid and get back to demanding proof for their actions.
They have little to no proof, and often use tiny kernels of truth to spin into outrageously vast conspiracies against America itself. Make the encounter simple. Don’t let them legitimize their lies by debating on a level playing field. They aren’t just putting a thumb on the scale, but piling it full of the corpses of all the people and institutions that they’ve killed in their crusade for power and control.
Demand proof. Over and over and over and over and over again. Chip away at their false shields. Over time, the sycophants will retreat to more favorable outlets and their lies will reach fewer people.
And remember, when you debate with them in the traditional style you are facilitating their lies. CNN’s NewsNight with Abby Phillip is a primary example of platforming MAGA to appear as legitimate movements on par with every other political alignment. There are ALWAYS two MAGA adherents facing off against neoliberals, progressives, democratic socialists… literally all other groups.
