NO PARENTS and NO CHILDREN refused that vaccine when my entire school class was vaccinated, one by one.
NO PARENTS were stupid and mean enough to refuse to vaccinate their children against any preventable, communicable diseases when vaccines came along in my childhood and adolescence for polio, measles, etc.

When that vaccine was developed, my parents were overjoyed. They did not feel enslaved, as the idiotic surgeon general of Florida says parents feel when required to vaccinate their children.
They felt liberated — from anxiety that their children would be paralyzed or crippled for life. They were beyond happy that the vaccine liberated their children from those possibilities.

I know someone who had polio as a child.
She has been crippled all her life. One of her legs doesn't function well, so walking is very difficult for her, even with the assistance of a cane and a leg brace.
The impairment of her leg has caused severe back pain, which doctors have tried to alleviate with surgery, with little success.
She is my age. She contracted polio right before the vaccine to prevent it came along.

Well, this will be interesting. Will states with more stringent (read sane) vaccination rules prevent Floridians with children from entering their state unless proof of vaccination can be provided?
Will other countries? Flashback to COVID, if you will.On the plus side, Floridians destined to grow up and become the next Ladapo, DeSantis (or Trump) may simply not make it.

Florida surgeon general Joseph A. #Ladapo failed to urge parents to vaccinate their children or keep unvaccinated students home from school as a precaution in a letter to parents at the Fort Lauderdale-area school this week following six confirmed measles cases.
Instead of following what he acknowledged was the “normal” recommendation that parents keep unvaccinated children home for up to 21 days — the incubation period for measles — Ladapo said the state health department “is deferring to parents or guardians to make decisions about school attendance.”
The controversial move by Ladapo follows a pattern of bucking public health norms, particularly when it comes to vaccines. Last month, he called for halting the use of #mRNA #coronavirus vaccines, in a move decried by the public health community.
