I uninstalled Instagram back in January or February, hoping to make it harder for me to use it mindlessly.
It has definitely worked.On Thursday however, I re-installed because I was doing some co-organising of a demo this weekend and wanted to accept collabs on posts, make stories etc.
These few days I have been on Instagram for 2 hours+ each day.
Not only for activism. Mostly just watching random videos, without deciding to do so.
The struggle is real

Recently I have discovered a @vernissage app, it has much better UI than Pixelfed, works smoother, even its betta it has already more features than pixelfed, works more stable, and has support for EXIF tags including the #film #shotonfilm #analog #35mm #photography

Today I have deleted all my photos from #instagram, and I will stop using the app. Before moving on, I looked into my personal experience with the platform and the history of it from my point of view.
In the next days, I will look into self-hosting @pixelfed and move my videos/photos there ( I wish there was a container ready to use for my k8s setup :P ).

So, die Löschung meines Instagram-Accounts drüben angekündigt. Damit Leute, die ohne Insta in Kontakt mit mir bleiben wollen, etwas Zeit haben, auf Alternativen umzusteigen.
Ich erwarte keine Reaktion. Diejenigen, die mir wichtig sind, sind bereits auf Signal. Alles andere wird nur irgendwie so mitgezogen. 🤷♂️

Es wird Zeit, dass online Verfügbare #Medien endlich aufhören damit #Links zu #Shitter, #Instagram, #Fratzenbuch und ähnliches in deren Artikel einzubauen. Diese #Trump-arschkriechende müssen nicht auch noch Geld verdienen für die Klicks die es dadurch gibt.
Und #DiePartei sollte sich auch was überlegen - es könnte bald soweit sein, dass ihre Aktionen auch unterdrückt werden, weil auch in Europa bald einige in Trumps Darmausgang stecken werden. Der #JensSpan ist sicherlich einer der ersten.

So there was obviously massive migration from #meta, mostly from #instagram into #Fedi, mainly #pixelfed.
No surprise so far with new rules.Regardless of the amount of half naked edgy selfies in "local" I feel like it's 100% worth based on the amount of amazing people joining our community.
I think we should welcome everyone and help them acclimatise. Some of them will leave when they find their style isn't popular here and that's fine, but I've seen many positive reactions when people get told about tag spam, alt text, nsfw toggle, boost Vs multi post and more.Many of those people genuinely would like to stay and join us so be careful and polite when giving advice. You probably didn't know all of that at the start (I sure didn't) so let's all be friends.

Ich bin seit 2011 aktiv auf Instagram. Suckerberg macht es mir schon lange immer schwerer. Jetzt ist für mich der Punkt gekommen endgültig allen Meta-Anwendungen zu entsagen, sie am besten aktiv zu boykottieren.
Aber das fällt mir echt schwer.
