Neither I or my wife is able to log in to our selfhosted #Pixelfed server using the iOS app. Access via web works. So does 3rd party app #Impressia.

Any ideas?

1. Impressia for Pixelfed（支持国区/美区）

具体来说就是在“Impressia for Pixelfed”登录某实例，如果账户开启了2FA，会停留在实例主页而不是进入Authorize页面，而没有开启2FA的账户可以显示Authorize页面正常登录。（大部分人没有开启2FA，所以不用关心这个Bug）
现在有一个办法，就是先关闭2FA，登录完后再开启2FA。
（所以这个Bug一年了也不修吗，哈基Impressia你这家伙......）
但是个人认为“Impressia for Pixelfed”是在Apple生态里最好的Pixelfed软件，作为开源免费软件，默认采用瀑布流，支持免费更改软件图标、主题、菜单栏、颜色风格、头像方圆...

Der zweite Screenshot zeigt den Post aus der #Impressia-App für #Pixelfed. Dort ist das erste Bild als ganzheitliche Ansicht zu sehen und wenn man weiter nach rechts wischt kommen auch die drei, die mir Ice Cubes anzeigt.

Diese unterschiedliche Darstellung ist für diesen speziellen Post eher unproblematisch, andere Posts würde das zerstören.

#Pixelfed used to support/display alt text pretty jankily on their web interface and app - through that tiny, elusive context hint when hovering (or long pressing on mobile) over the photo.

For a while now, I couldn't seem to even get that to show. Is displaying alt text just not a thing anymore on Pixelfed - at least on the web if not also the app? It shows perfectly fine on third party Pixelfed clients tho like #Impressia (#Vernissage) and even on other #Fediverse services/platforms.

Tip for Pixelfed users on iPad: give Impressia a shot. Pixelfed official app might be better if you’re more engaged, but Impressia is clean and adapts to Split View and Slide Over views.

@robert Die Software hat vor 2 Jahren besser auf meinem #IPhone funktioniert als heute. (Testflight) Selbst #Impressia for Pixelfed läuft und diese greift auch auf den Server zu. In meinem Fall sehe ich nur das Problem an Smartphonespp. Sonst läuft Pixelfed, wie ich es nutze.

Was ist denn das bitte bei mir mit #Pixelfed für ein Rotz .... Auf dem #Smartphone #IOS bekomme ich die Fehlermeldung #HostError, wenn ich mich bei Pixelfed.Social anmelden will. Nun hat es mir anscheinend parallel die Pixelfed App auch auf das #MacBook installiert und hier kann ich mich regulär einloggen? HÄ? Muss man jetzt nicht verstehen. Nun kann ich auf dem Macbook die App nutzen, wo ich aber ehr im #Browser unterwegs bin und am Smartphone muss ich zu #Impressia for Pixelfed wechseln. 🤦‍♂️

Uf, se me había olvidado el frustrante caos que es #Pixelfed cuando estás en una instancia pequeña y las interconexiones están a medio cocer… va a tocar picar piedra, porque hay gente que me ha seguido a cuyo contenido no puedo acceder jaja.

@searchparty @crossgolf_rebel Ihr nutze für Pixelfed die Apps #Impressia https://nerdculture.de/@holgervogt/113836380797186418 und auch die Standard App unter iOS.
In den #Mastodon Clients kannst Du ebenfalls #Pixelfed Feeds folgen (und umgekehrt sollte das auch gehen). Die werden normal angezeigt. Zumindest in #IceCubes und #Mona schaut das so zu sein und macht damit genau das, was das #Fediverse verspricht 😊

Just wanna point out, there’s a lot of great #photography on here! Photographers, eat your heart out! Maybe check out Pixelfed! I’ve found that the Pixelfed app for #iOS kinda sucks right now so I’m using #Impressia because it works better and is high quality! I’d recommend clicking the dropdown at the top and looking at the trending stuff. You can also search for and follow hashtags but you won’t get anything in your feed until someone posts something new. Oh well jus touch grass or something.

I was finally able to upload, with alt text ofc, but just realised that both the official app and web interface don't even show alt text at all anymore. I think that might always have been the case with the app, but with the web interface I know that it did show alt text - just in a really poor way (hover over the photo until it shows the alt text as a really tiny "hint").

Also shows perfectly fine on other #Fediverse services like #Mastodon and this #Sharkey account of mine. Das klassische #instagram UI der #pixelfed #iOS App gefällt mir richtig gut.
In Mastodon Apps wie #ivory hat mir die Präsentation der Bilder nie gefallen und bei #impressia vermisse es, die Captions direkt zu sehen.
Das ist für mich jetzt der ideale Mittelweg auch wenn es darauf hinausläuft, einfach ein Copycat einer #meta App zu sein.

Ich brauche mal #Mastodon und #Pixelfed Hilfe. Bin #NeuHier bei Pixelfed und habe mir da ein Konto auf einem Pixelfed-Server angelegt. Sehe aber, dass ich mich in der #Impressia-App auch mit meinem Mastodon-Konto einloggen und Bilder posten kann. Brauche ich dann für Pixelfed überhaupt einen eigenen Account auf einem Pixelfed-Server oder kann ich auch einfach meinen Mastodon-Account nehmen? :blobsweats:

New #Pixelfed users: Please don't use the "official" app - it's really poor and has been that way since its existence. The photo sharing experience is horrible, and even the photo viewing experience is scuffed - the scrolling is choppy, alt messages don't show, it couldn't even display most photos properly in the correct size/ratio (same with uploading too). You might need it for certain features that are currently unsupported by the other clients (Pixelfed isn't the best when it comes to supporting their 3rd party clients/devs, to say the least), yet despite that, you will almost guarantee a much better experience using 3rd party apps than their own.

If you're on #iOS/#iPhone user: you're in luck cos you get to install #Impressia (formerly known as #Vernissage) which really is the (only) perfect Pixelfed app available, it's #FOSS and completely free on the #Apple App Store. I think it's also worth noting that the developer behind this amazing app is also building a (FOSS) federated photo sharing platform (akin to Pixelfed and #Instagram) of their own called Vernissage due to Pixelfed's own limitations/shortcomings - it's not available to the public yet I don't think, but might be worth going for in place of both Pixelfed and IG in the future.

If you're on #Android, you have several options including #PixelDroid but the most decent Pixelfed client I've found is #Pixelix. The app itself, from the #Google Play Store is not free but it is FOSS and you can still download and install it for free using its APK that you can find from their #GitHub repo. The photo viewing experience is great, the photo sharing exp is not as polished as Impressia (which is expected seeing how young the project is), but it is overall a very solid option and hands down better than the official app.

@ellieraejaye Yes, albeit sporadically as I’ve struggled to find an app I like. Currently using #pixelix on Android, which is good and #impressia on iPad OS which is ok.

@pixelfed It will be wonderful if there is an iOS app in the App Store. I just checked out the re-branded #Vernissage, now called #Impressia, and it is a very nice app with a crisp native-iOS look and feel. But it's limited, by design: it seems to be made for endless scrolling, not so much for participation or community.

I'm cautiously excited.

Anyone wanna try out #Impressia / #Vernissage against a #sharkey / #misskey instance and see if it works or if it's just my own broken weirdness? You'd be doing me a favor for sure.

Oh wow, finally a super decent #Pixelfed client on #Android (on #iOS, please use #Impressia (was known as #Vernissage instead if you want a good experience). Haven't used it extensively yet but at a glance, this already looks and feels 10x better than the "native"/"official" client or #Pixeldroid. If it also does the content posting UX well, something I couldn't say for the Pixelfed app, then it's perfect.

Lol, I've always thought #Vernissage or #Impressia is literally the only reason why I can bear and enjoy using #Pixelfed, the "official" web and mobile clients feel like school projects in comparison - I've always appreciated what they did in the backend/Fediverse ecosystem of things I suppose, but they're in no position to be so boastful about their "achievements" that's for sure. I've always thought that dude was strange, and they even have gotten irrationally mad/emotional w me before too for a simple misunderstanding (and apologised later, seems like that's a common theme). Have fun with Loops!
