I’m definitely missing posts in Tusker; I just went from reading things from about 18 hours ago to things I boosted a few minutes ago.
This is the ultimate sin for Fedi clients, at least for me. I follow people (and a few bots) because I’m interested in what they post!

CW: I Again Opine on Mastodon Apps
@JosephAndriano Agreed. It may be the most underrated #Mastodon app. I just wish it had an Indigo icon option instead of the stock green and a way within the app to make the text just a smidge bigger. Otherwise, it’s the app I tend to come back to. I am currently trialing #Feditext TestFlight beta and it’s well done as well although I would prefer quicker access to lists.

I think the thing that’s keeping me from being as active on the Fediverse as I would like to be is that I can’t find an iOS Client that doesn’t have at least one major drawback.
#MastodonforiOS doesn’t let you post animated GIFs
#Tusker doesn’t have Push Notifications
#IceCubesApp doesn’t make links distinct touch targets that you can long press to open the action sheet (for copying, sharing, adding to Reading List etc.) and sometimes the post composer just randomly fails to work -

@IceCubesApp @tusker It eventually started working after about a 30-minute delay. However, a remaining gripe is how much battery it uses, even in an iPhone 15 Pro (39%) within 25 hours. #Tusker and #Mastoot use a fraction of that (<10%). I know #IceCubesApp has more features, but that’s a big difference. Either way, I’ve contributed to the apps and will continue to keep an eye on future updates. Thanks to all the devs for the vibrant third-party client ecosystem.

@blackdeth @IceCubesApp I started with Ice Cubes but sometimes its performance can be a little wonky, even on a new phone. It has a packed feature set though. I think I have settled on #Tusker for now as it’s light and has the feature set I have the most use for. It’s also well-designed from a UI/UX standpoint. Mastoot, Tooot, and Mammoth are other solid free options. People seem to like Mona and Ivory as paid options. Plenty of choices, so hopefully you find one that works best for you. 👍🏻
