  1. @a11yclub I’m curious about the #iaap hosted exams:

Start date for May and June sessions is May 20, end date is June 17. Application open date is May 6, three days before your event?

How does one register for a hosted session on May 9 and 10? 🙂

  2. So is anything ever just good enough? I worked so hard to earn my #IAAP #CPWA only to discover that the in thing everyone wants to see now is the DHS Trusted Tester certification. Really? What gives? That'll just be more time and money I'll have to spend adding insult to injury after being laid off. I know. Whaaa... Does it matter that I am fully aware that this is a whine? #accessibility

  5. Is there an internationally recognised certificate for #ui and #ux? Similar like the #cpacc and #was certificates by the #iaap?

It's not about how well they represent your actual knowledge, but rather to have something increasing your job chances abroad.

  8. Finished the @dequesystems prep course for the #iaap #cpacc exam and listened A LOT to the new #TheAlbumLeaf record.

Which is apparently a live session and the perfect soundtrack for studying: tidal.com/browse/album/3665578

Will now deep-dive into theoretical models of #disability and #UniversalDesign, not many details stuck on the first go

  13. I decided (again) to prepare for the #cpacc exam by the #iaap after I had some doubt of it's usefulness.

But after doing a non-technical workshop for #accessibility newbies last week and believing that the #eaa will have some impact, I decided to go for it!

I'm using the @dequesystems prep course and read everything with 200% zoom. Unfortunately this makes paragraphs very long, so I'd like to share a #bookmarklet I quickly created to shorten them:

  14. Facebook new tracking revelations

"#Facebook’s #IAAP program conduct was not merely anticompetitive, but criminal," read the filings revealed on March 26, 2024, by a federal court in California during the class action lawsuit between consumers and Meta.

Facebook used its #OnavoVPN system to illegally track its users when accessing Snapchat and other competitors' apps, new unsealed court filings can reveal.

So-called Project #Ghostbusters—echoing the iconic rival's logo—appears to have been just the beginning of the wider "In App Action Panel" ( #IAAP ) program which aimed to spy on competitors' traffic to gain commercial advantage.

It's thought to have run between June 2016 and approximately May 2019, with YouTube and Amazon being the next targets.

#Meta, Facebook's parent company, employed its controversial #VPN service as a way to intercept and decrypt the traffic between the people accessing its service and competitors' servers.

The company shut down #Onavo in 2019, following a TechCrunch investigation revealing the #spyware-like VPN software was employed in a research project to collect sensitive user data from paid volunteers aged between 13 and 25.

  19. Hey #disability and #accessibility folks!

I'm working as a content consultant on an accessibility course, and we're looking for photos of and by disabled people and members of the disability community.

Details: Princeton University's Digital Accessibility team is updating their online course for the Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies exam. This course is also licensed by the International Association of Accessibility Professionals, and around 800 people around the globe are enrolled in the course at any given time.

Photos of people using assistive technologies, and any other photos that authentically represent life with disabilities are welcome. Photos must be your own and you must be willing to make them available under a Creative Commons license.

To contribute, please us this form: Share Photos for CPACC Course

  20. the #meta #iaap couldn’t arbitrarily intercept/decrypt traffic, it captured specific traffic on consenting devices only. i’m sure it violated #snapchat terms, but calling it a cyberattack is hyperbole bordering on misinformation. is dlp a cyberattack? (don’t answer that.)

  21. While I think the presentation of Universal Design for Learning #UDL topics is much easier to understand in the #IAAP #Princeton #CPACC course, the #Deque University course goes in to greater depth and provides more information on specific guidelines and checkpoints. #accessibility

  22. I love all the practical examples throughout the #Deque #University #CPACC course and I very much prefer it over the #IAAP #Princeton offering. It is also far less ableist. #accessibility

  23. Button or link, that is the question. In a course, which control type should be used for moving to the next or previous section? Buttons enable the action of moving, while links point to information. Either can be appropriate. #Deque uses links while #IAAP #Princeton uses buttons. I prefer buttons as it is easy to press b to move JAWS to the button. #accessibility #CPACC

  24. Here's a full page screenshot of the (soon to be cancelled) "Accessible Overlays" panel by the #iaap at #ZeroProject conference, in case you need this for your archive.

I do, cause I have an article coming up where I mention this and I'll need the proof. 😅 Screenshot was taken with #ArcBrowser and I'm a heavy user of this feature!
