#Texas has a new governor.
#GinaHinojosa is almost the opposite of her 3 Republican predecessors. They were white male wingnuts. She's a Hispanic lawyer, doing civil rights & labor law.
The most recent Democrat Governor was another woman: Ann Richards, in office 1991–95 until her defeat by #GWBush, who she mocked as "shrub".
Richards was prone to theatrical appearances with a #Harley or with a gun. My young Texan flatmate in London had the hots for Governor Ann.
#Hinojosa seems more solid.

Ok, I dare to hope it’s true, the #AP has just called #Texas for #Talarico AND #Hinojosa. Y’all, this is historic. Texas just went purple for the first time since the rise of the Bush Dynasty.
And it’s not just Texas! There’s a blue wave happening in places I didn’t think were winnable. Y’all Dems flipped who holds keys to the governor’s mansion in #Iowa, #Kansas, #Georgia, and counting. Senate seats as well as #House seats are flipping. AP calls #Dem control of House.
Well, this *is* exciting! I wonder if there’s a betting pool on *if* #Paxton will concede *or* if this will be the thing that causes him to break free of his skin suit, revealing the greasy coiled fetid monstrosity that is his true form.
