#SongIn (#Korean: 송인; #Hanja: 宋仁; ? – 1126) was a civil official in the mid-#Goryeo era who became the intermediary founder of the #Jincheon #SongClan. His highest post was munha pyeongjangsa (문하 평장사). This was the highest government position in the period. Song In was responsible for administration, judicial affairs and economy in the district. As he performed meritorious deeds during the King, he was conferred with Chanhwagongsin and Jincheonbaek.

The latest version of the free BabelStone Han font (v.16.0.2), by Andrew West (魏安), has just been released. It includes more than 60,000 CJK unified ideographs, and supports a provisional set of 2,452 ideographic variation sequences (IVS) for 1,196 characters.

Beautifully crafted BabelStone Han font, by Andrew West 魏安
#BabelStone Han v. 15.1.3 is a free #Unicode #CJK #font with over 57,000 Han characters (#hanzi, #kanji, #hanja), and 62,061 Unicode characters in total. It is a Song/Ming style (宋体/明體) font, with glyphs modelled on the official character forms used in the People's Republic of China, and is primarily intended for writing Modern Standard #Chinese, Classical Chinese, and various Sinitic languages and dialects.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I wish that Korean textbooks included hanja in vocab lists. Like, I'm much more likely to remember that "word" is "단어" when I know it's "單語" (= 単語/たんご), with the same 어/語 as in 한국어

I just noticed.
#JangHeeJin (#장희진), the actress behind Ko Hae Soo (고해수), from #Pandora: Beneath the Paradise (#판도라: 조작된 낙원), was also in the K-drama #FlowerOfEvil (#악의꽃) as Do Hae Soo (도해수).
Without knowing the #Hanja equivalent of her character's name, Hae Soo (해수), it can mean: (1) salt/sea water; or (2) sea animal.
One possible Hanja form of the name is 咳嗽 which can mean: (1) cough; or (2) medicine to coughing, in both Japanese and Chinese. It can also mean, figuratively in classical Chinese, as (1) a sound; or (2) to speak.
Although, for her character in Pandora, it could be: 解搜, which means to divide and to search.
The thing with many Asian names, the meaning behind it defines the person. In #Asian #fiction, this is well-used to give clues, if you will, about the fictional character. Most Asian writers wouldn't pick just any name, it has to fit, has to be meaningful.

This is the character that represents the #Philippines in #Han (#Kanji #Hanja #Hanzi) script: 菲
菲 can mean: humble, luxurious, unworthy, poor, fragrant, lush, meagre, scant.
I guess that pretty much sums up the #Philippines? LOL.
I mean:
* We are humble, to the point that we look at everyone else as superior to us. (Be it in our daily lives, or the Philippines in comparison with other countries).
* It is luxurious, for us locals, to live in the Philippines. (By 'luxurious', in Philippine English, it means 'expensive').
* But, with all the political drama, we still are a poor country, and unworthy of blessings.
* Yet, we do have 7,641 lush islands! No other country can beat that.
* And even though the people's income is meagre and scant for our daily expenses, there is a unique fragrance that can only be found here, in the Pearl of the Orient Seas.
