I had never seen 火垂るの墓 (Grave of the Fireflies) before today, and it's brilliant, extremely sad but more than anything incredibly powerful. Even with the very first sentence, spoken by Seita, being 「昭和20年9月21日夜僕は死んだ」 ("On the night of September 21, 1945, I died" ) and so trying to prepare viewers for what is to come, I still wasn't quite prepared.

If you haven seen it (but most of you probably have), please do.

#GraveOfTheFireflies is coming to #Netflix. It is truely one of the great works of #Ghibli. But I bears mentioning. While this can be a sweet tale of a brother trying to care for his sister in Japan after WWII, it is heartbreaking.

That said, I believe it should be watched -at least- once. Similar to #Godzilla #MinusOne, it shows postwar Japan, & what ppl went thru that's not often talked about.

So movies don't usually bother me. I love gore horror suspense or anything.

But one movie that really stuck with me was #graveofthefireflies not sure why. It's G I think. But something about it is hard to shake off. Not sure if it's because I have young children. Or how they portrayed innocence in the film.

But anytime I put it on I feel like my stomach was punched
