  1. Pleased overall with both the new notching system and 3 of 4 of the pictures themselves. Scanned at 1200 DPI and lightly edited in #Darktable (I removed a few dust spots, cropped, and upped the contrast very slightly).

You can tell from one of these pictures especially that we are still in a pretty heavy drought.

  3. I shot a few rolls and sheets of #IlfordFP4 over the last few weeks, so I'm finally ready for a few entries for #FP4Party.

I'll start with a shot from my #Graflex in/near #Asheville. This particular shot was from an overlook on the #BlueRidgeParkway heading toward Craggy Gardens. Shot with a red filter. The 3000 px resolution doesn't do it justice…zooming in on the treeline on the full 4x5 scan is awesome. I've included a snippet of a screenshot as an example.

  5. Just got back home. My crazy ass hauled this a mile and a half up to the top of Craggy Pinnacle (5890 ft) and back…I hope the pictures turn out well. Blew through a roll of #KodakTriX in the SLR, and between today and separate stops yesterday I did 12 sheets of #IlfordFP4 in the #Graflex. Also came home to some HC-110 that I ordered, so I’m looking forward to testing it out. I’ve never used it before.

It’s also the first time I’ve been on the Parkway since Helene. There are entire sections of sides of mountains where almost all the trees are down. It was bizarre. There wasn’t a great place to pull over and get a picture. I also saw two black bear cubs and an adult. In one day!

  7. Heading to the mountains for the weekend. With the #Graflex I’m taking some #320TXP and some #FP4. I think I’ve got this bag about maxed out…

  9. I shot 219 rolls of film in 2025. Vast majority was black and white, with #IlfordHP5 and #KodakTriX predictably taking the top spots. My favorite 3 cameras also topped the list. #XTOL is my favorite developer, and the data supports that. This spreadsheet doesn't include the 20-30 exposures I did on 4x5 with the #Graflex.

  11. In case this helps anyone else: My #CrownGraphic came in a box with a number of accessories, including a push-on Series VI filter holder. There were a few filters, but they’re pretty hazy and the whole thing is fiddly to use.

I started trying to find a Series VI to threaded filter adapter, and it’s surprisingly hard to do, especially not having something to hold in your hand and see if it works.

After reading a variety of (what ended up being incorrect) comments on forums regarding the thread size, I ordered a pair of cheap 40.5mm to 52mm adapter rings in hopes it would fit the threaded area in the filter holder, but alas it did not.

BUT! It did fit snugly (with the help of some pliers) in the ring that threads *into* the filter holder. So I ended up creating a bit of a hacky adapter - but without a 52mm filter threaded onto it, it still folds into the camera, so it works pretty well and can be left on the lens. As there was an extra set of filter retaining ring and push on adapter, I felt okay risking getting pliers involved. Now I’ll be able to use 52mm threaded filters (of which I have plenty) for shooting with the Crown Graphic.

  13. Any enthusiasts know about Graflok backs?
I am trying to replace the back of my Pacemaker Speed Graphic 45 from a Graflex, to a Graflok. I got a back from a Crown Grafic, which does not seem to have the copper tab shown on the photo. This is meant to cause more drag on the focal-plane shutter's curtain.

This one on Ebay seems to be the exact same one I have and the original envelope suggests it's for mine as well.

  15. Pleased with the results from my second jaunt with the 4x5. I tried scanning negs in the print file sleeve, which appears to have improved the focus on the scanner as I'm not able to use a negative carrier. I also had to scan each in two strips (V600 is designed only for 135 and 120 negs) and join them in Affinity Photo. Upside: focus improved. Downside: the sleeves themselves attract a *lot* of dust. The attached have been converted down for Mastodon...they don't do justice to the resolution these have. Full size scans are 15700 × 12500.

The truck picture was a pleasant surprise, it is one of the pictures I forgot to stop down after focusing…I metered a 3 sec exposure at f/22 but fired it at f/4.7 🤦🏻‍♂️ But, the fact that I overexposed by *counts on fingers* SIX STOPS and still got a decent image shows how flexible film is - although perhaps reciprocity failure saved me a bit as well?

I've got another 16-17 sheets of cheap film left to get a little better at this, after that I have a small box of #IlfordFP4 and a small box of #TriX I'm really excited to try.

  17. Slightly obsessed with a new, to me, #Graflex Pacemaker Speed Graphic 45 #LargeFormat #Film camera. These have a deep history specially with the press. So much so, that they were called press cameras.

#IShootFilm but never bigger than 35mm.

I'd love to hear any info you may have on these. This particular one has a small sticker on the top with "The great seal of the state of California" logo, and one at the bottom of the state capitol building.

  18. Hey, it's #WaterfallWednesday! Here's a photo of a waterfall that I took. The waterfall is in Cooper's Rock State Park in West Virginia, and I took the photo with my 4x5 #Graflex #SpeedGraphic camera. This is a 16x20 gelatin silver print toned with sulfide toner.

Second photo is me using the same camera on top of a mountain in Alaska. It takes great photos, but it's heavy and bulky. The Graflex Speed Graphic: exactly how badly do you want to take that nature photo?
