One of these things is not like the other…😅

I also reduced my dev time by 15%. With #XTOL I didn’t really have to worry about that switching to rotation, but #HC110 seems a lot more sensitive to it based on the other negs I’ve scanned so far being super dense. It looks to me like I could have reduced it further - but it’s hard to tell given these were shots of dark mountains and bright skies. The two shots where it appears I clearly metered on the mountains look the best so far, but I am still looking forward to seeing how these scan.

Some pics from the huge (for this region at least) snow we got last month. I haven't shoveled snow since I lived in the mountains, and boy did it drive home how out of shape I've gotten this winter (and over the last 15 years). 😅

I adjusted my exposure compensation a stop and a half, but I think I could've gone further. Snow is bright!

Last of the film pics from #IsleOfSkye, and #Scotland as a whole. This area is called The Quirang, and is even more strange landscape. If I ever get around to posting some of the digital pics I took, right after this roll of film the clouds and mist finally parted and cleared up across the ridge and allowed me to get a few wonderful color digital pics. It was beautiful.

Finally getting back around to posting #Scotland film pics - these are the first of the pics from #IsleOfSkye. We caught the ferry from Mallaig, and picked up our rental car at the ferry terminal. There were definitely a lot more people driving around on Skye than there was on Islay.

I shot 219 rolls of film in 2025. Vast majority was black and white, with #IlfordHP5 and #KodakTriX predictably taking the top spots. My favorite 3 cameras also topped the list. #XTOL is my favorite developer, and the data supports that. This spreadsheet doesn't include the 20-30 exposures I did on 4x5 with the #Graflex.

#FortWilliam was one of the stopovers between #Islay and #Skye. I could certainly have spent more time there - the loch and the road next to it were beautiful.

#Islay is the home to my favorite Whiskies. #Lagavulin tops my list, but #Laphroaig and #Ardbeg are also fantastic! Just across the little bay from Lagavulin is the ruins of Dunyvaig Castle.

Leaving the Carraig Fhada lighthouse we headed to the Singing Sands beach. I'm not sure why it is called that, but it is beautiful. There are plenty of rocky outcroppings coming up out of the sand, and the water is clear and blue - almost looks like the Caribbean. #Scotland #Islay

Pleased with the results from my second jaunt with the 4x5. I tried scanning negs in the print file sleeve, which appears to have improved the focus on the scanner as I'm not able to use a negative carrier. I also had to scan each in two strips (V600 is designed only for 135 and 120 negs) and join them in Affinity Photo. Upside: focus improved. Downside: the sleeves themselves attract a *lot* of dust. The attached have been converted down for Mastodon...they don't do justice to the resolution these have. Full size scans are 15700 × 12500.

The truck picture was a pleasant surprise, it is one of the pictures I forgot to stop down after focusing…I metered a 3 sec exposure at f/22 but fired it at f/4.7 🤦🏻‍♂️ But, the fact that I overexposed by *counts on fingers* SIX STOPS and still got a decent image shows how flexible film is - although perhaps reciprocity failure saved me a bit as well?

I've got another 16-17 sheets of cheap film left to get a little better at this, after that I have a small box of #IlfordFP4 and a small box of #TriX I'm really excited to try.
