My early morning bike ride paid off with the acquisition of this gorgeous old coffee table which a neighbor had put out for trash collection. It's solid wood and heavy AF. They definitely don't make 'em like this anymore.

It has corner damage (see details in photo), so I'm wondering if anyone with knowledge of DIY furniture restoration can offer repair tips. My first thought was to mold a replacement patch from wood epoxy and then stain it to match, but I'm happy to field other ideas if you'e got 'em. #restoration #woodworking #furniturerepair #DIY

We bought a worn leather couch from someone for $40. My wife is quoting Silence of the Lambs while rubbing it with leather cleaner/conditioner.

The photos below are my kitty & her pawdiwork [handiwork]. Odette & I both ADORE my desk chair. It is a solid, wooden affair with a rocker base [like a rocking chair]. The trouble is, Miss Itty [Odette's nickname] came up with the delightful practice of flipping her little body round-and-round the back of the chair, hanging upside down... until it rocks backward &... well... as you can see, it eventually broke. We're not sure how to repair it or what sort of handyperson to seek out for such repairs. Any help or suggestions to get past the destruction? Do I need a new chair...? I'll post additional photos if needed... Thank y'all in advance.

so I bought these chairs from the 60s like 2 years ago. I went to woodworking classes and repaired one of them. I thought I would renovate the rest on my own soon...

today is the first time I'm actually trying to do something with that

annnd I got stuck trying to remove the seat, so now I'm just removing the stain and polish from the parts I did manage to detach 😅 I guess I need a crowbar 😞

Well, I finally finished with this stupid Wayfair dresser. I got the slides installed. Glued the drawers together with the new plywood bottoms.

Got some handles and a plastic template set for getting them positioned nicely.

I added corner braces to the back side and front to inside.

I had to clamp and glue so many places where the particle board just wanted to split as I was putting it back together. I’ve never had this kind of trouble screwing things into particle board furniture from IKEA. Friends don’t let friends buy flatpack furniture from Wayfair. Better off shopping thrift stores and estate sales until you find something good.

Now it goes into place and I’m putting an IKEA expedite that I’ve had for almost twenty years on top.

To be very clear, I’m not really looking to do furniture repair but a friend of a friend asked and I said “yes.” Stability is the key factor for assembly and repair. Things break when they become unstable. It’s why your mother said not to lean back on your chair. This looks pretty straight forward. Remove the hinges and other hardware carefully, glue and clamp the broken bits and then return it to the owner. #woodworking #woodworker #furniturerepair #onmyworkbench #cedarchest
