I’ve got my eye on a new #aquarium. Does anyone have any experience with #fluval #roma? I am just looking for a tank and light, but it seems that full packages seem to be the best value. I don’t need the filter or heater, so I will probably sell those on. #fishkeeping #fish

We have life at last! Just blue jelly shrimp first, fish next week maybe!

Aquarium update. Day 65 of cycling. We’re almost there! Ammonia and nitrite have been clearing in <24hrs for the past week. KH is still a bit up and down but is stabilising around 3 dKH. I just did a big water change to reduce nitrate and, if it all looks good tomorrow, I’ll start stocking it!

I *may* have wandered into our local fish store this afternoon. I *may* also have bought more #fish.
On an *entirely* unrelated matter, please meet Kung Fu the Panda Cory 🐼. I haven’t had chance to think of suitable punny names for the rest of the school yet. :seas:

Been setting up a planted freshwater tank, first freshwater aquarium I've done since like 2006! Getting the ntirogen cycle established took 3 weeks with the plants competing on the ammonia.
Started sparse with the plants, they've grown a ton, going to be clipping and replanting stems this weekend before adding fish.
Already a lot of hitchiker snails.

A few months ago I bought a dozen cherry shrimp for the aquarium. Over the following weeks their numbers slowly dwindled until, apparently, only one remained. I assumed the rest had been eaten by the platy or sucked into the filter.
We came back from holiday yesterday to find a shrimp population explosion. Every time I turn on the light, I spot more.
So, apparently, they were not dead. Merely plotting.

Aquarium update. Day 4 of cycling the water. This morning the water is crystal clear after being a bit cloudy for a couple of days. Plants are looking healthy and starting to grow. I have a few more weeks before the water will be suitable for fish.
Kinda liking my little aquatic zen garden though!
