J'ai bien avancé sur le hardscape du mini paludarium.
Je vois déjà le potentiel d'un beau contraste entre le bois, les hakkai stone et du sable et des plantes d'un vert bien vibrant. -

Pues ya tengo elegido el #acuario que montaré, mejor dicho la urna. Me decidí por esta ya que creo que la relación calidad/precio es buena y la capacidad es grande pero no excesiva ya que son 80L. This morning, I returned from a two-week vacation and to beat the post-vacation blues (and the jet-lag), I ordered some aquarium plants to be delivered today to convert my non-planted tank. I’ve gone for a low-tech jungle style and I am rather happy with how the initial planting looks, but let’s see how they bed in.
Stocking:

• Java fern (Narrow leaf)
• Crypto walkeri
• Crypro beckettii

Another day of unemployment, another project - these #aquascaping (and I use that term very loosely) jars are the product of me not wanting to discard excess #aquarium plants.
I’m not sure how viable the setups will be in the long run. For now they just contain plants, I was considering adding some tiny snails but I need to do some more research if that would work. I probably also need to take the lids off to allow for some gas exchange, no? :blobthinking: -

i don't remember if i ever made a post about that one time I found a box in a wardrobe with some anubias (submersed); and it was still alive, and the box even had a bunch of shrimp. it had been there for six months; was supposed to be just a week to kill some nasty algae on the anubias.
well, i just found a bag i had misplaced since moving in back at the end of december. emersed this time.
this is why i love #anubias and #microsorum #fern!

Tank update. Snails and plants still looking fine but it's only been ten days.
Also dorky plastic chunks have been added. -

Day 10 tank update - I trimmed the plants down a bunch yesterday and did another big water change.
Water parameters were mostly reading the same throughout the week. Some ammonia showing, no nitrites, and an ambiguous nitrate reading. Ammonia has come back down today, so that's interesting!
Water looks super clear and plants all seem to be doing okay. 1/3

I did a water test this morning which read ~6.6 pH, between 0.5-1 ppm Ammonia, 0 Nitrite and between 0-5 ppm Nitrate. These seem like positive indicators that the nitrification process is started. I'm hoping with the new plants, they will pull up that excess ammonia and nitrate.
I then did my first water change which was about 50% of the water. I did enough to expose the driftwood area where I applied new superglue and adjusted the moss so it looked more natural. 2/? #aquariums #aquascaping

Day 6 update - I went to Aquarium Zen here in #seattle and picked up some additional plants.
I read that Hornwort, Water Lettuce, and Susswassertang are great additions that grow fast and will help clear out excess nutrients. The store did not have Hornwort but they recommended Mayaca Fluviatilis as a substitute.
I think they are all solid additions to the tank and make it feel more established. 1/?

Set up my first aquascape yesterday :) 7 gallon cube tank that I set up Walstad Method.
I have some dwarf grass, some stem plants, some moss and a lotus plant in there with some round rocks and spider wood hardscaping. I am really excited about it! What a fun hobby! #aquarium #aquascape #aquascaping
