"Unpretty" is a song by American group #TLC, released on May 17, 1999, through #LaFace and #AristaRecords as the second single from the band's third studio album, #FanMail. It was written by #TionneTBozWatkins and producer #DallasAustin. Watkins had written a poem to express her disgust over an episode of #RickiLake, and Austin helped her adapt it into the song. "Unpretty" was the album's second song to top the US #Billboard Hot 100, which it did for three weeks.

In the 80s, I sent a dorky, teenage fanboy letter to the Feelies. (Presumably, to the PO Box listed on the back of one of their records.) Months later, I received a perfunctory but polite reply from Feelies drummer Stanley Demeski. That letter has spent the last 35+ years stuck in the sleeve of my copy of the band's "No One Knows" EP. It falls out every time I play that record, so I finally decided to post it on last Saturday's WFMU playlist. (And now I am posting it here.)

Trust me, I know it's scary to "put a target on your back" by wading into video or picture comments currently dominated by #haters leaving garbage, but I assure you it feels even worse on the #contentCreator end when we're the ones having to deal with 95% garbage trying to tear us down. Especially for #smallCreators like me who don't get paid anything for the work we do making content for others to enjoy for free, so literally the only reason we do any of this is the love of making content and hoping to reach just a few people who like what we do, or care about the same issues that we're advocating for 🙃
