  1. New by me: Backups That Actually Restore

Most people don’t have backups. They have assumptions.

If you’ve never tested a restore, you’re gambling with your data. This one walks through how to actually build backups that survive ransomware, failure, and real-world chaos.

  6. New by me: New Glasses, New Network, Final Stretch (Week 12, 2026)

My final BSIT class started, I reworked my home network, got new glasses ordered, ran around all day with family errands, and tried pistachio ice cream for the first time which honestly lived up to the hype.

It was a pretty full week. A little anxious in spots, but still moving forward.

  7. New by me: Digital Forensic on Compromised Containers.

Just got asked a solid question by a fellow security nerd:

“How do you do digital forensics on a compromised container… what logs do you collect and how do you snapshot it for deeper digging?”

So I wrote it up as a practical, preservation-first guide.

Digital forensics in container land is basically archaeology with a stopwatch. 🧪🕵️

  8. I have finished the draft of my first book. It’s a cybersecurity thriller titled, The FOIS Files: The Cipher Fellows.

Want to read it first? Send me a DM and I’ll send you the PDF.

    Looking for some input.

  9. Back in the saddle with my Cybersecurity Weekly Roundup for 2026.

This week’s signal: CISA moves (KEV + retired Emergency Directives), critical patching for Veeam/Trend Micro/n8n/Cisco ISE, legacy edge gear still getting farmed, “internal-looking” phishing tricks, and malicious browser extensions stealing AI chats.

15 stories, quick briefs, and my practitioner take:

  10. New from me: Stepping into 2026

2025 was a mix of wins, frustrations, and the usual chaos. For 2026 I’m trying to build on what’s already working: keep writing practical cybersecurity posts, keep the messy move away from big tech going, and finally finish my degree in April.

Also… first time I’m saying this publicly: I’m working on a cyber-thriller book series and plan to self-publish. 😅📚

  11. It has been an interesting 2025 for me; Moved my site to Eleventy, moved to infosec.exchange, had some personal wins, etc.

Here is my 2025 Review wrapped up by hand.

  12. I have an 8 track Security How-To Series coming soon in which I will take you from beginner, everyday safety to Advanced security skills.

Each track will have about 4-6 parts in them. There might even be some downloadable goodies. 😜

Stay tuned! First one coming tomorrow.

  13. 🧠 Cyber & Tech Enthusiasts — I Built Something for Us

I’ve been wanting a space where cybersecurity folks, tech builders, and curious minds could hang out without the noise — so I built one.

The CybersecKyle Community on Discord is my corner of the internet for people who love to:

    1) dive into threat intel and tools
    2) swap stories from the field
    3) nerd out over everything from exploits to automation
    4) actually learn and build together
    5) trade sysadmin tips and automation hacks
    6) swap stories from the SOC or the server room
    7) tinker with code, cloud setups, and home labs
    8) actually learn, build, and break things (ethically) together

It’s small, growing, and already full of smart, genuine people. If that sounds like your kind of chaos, come join us. We’d love to have you!

  15. Hey everyone! Just FYI, I am going to be changing my username on here to @ cyberseckyle. Of course, as y'all know, I am going to have to create a new account. 😒

Be on the lookout for this change and me refriending you during the upcoming days.

    Thanks!
