  1. Every time Jenn Psaki said “Crypto” tonight, @KNS said, “Cryptocurrency!” Or “Crypto means Cryptography!”

  2. I expected we’d see Kryptos cracked in my lifetime… but not through a side channel attack involving paperwork stored at the Smithsonian.

  3. Oh dear.

    Researchers figure out how to undermine Fiat-Shamir and the Random Oracle Model to validate untrue inputs.

    This has quite serious potential implications for blockchain trust although the full extent isn’t yet known.

  4. Apple removes Advanced Data Protection for UK customers rather than comply with UK government’s demand. It’s not clear this will satisfy them as they originally wanted access to non-UK customers as well.

    To be continued…

  5. Today NIST announced the approval of FIPS standards for PQC:

    * FIPS 203 (Module-Lattice-Based Key-Encapsulation Mechanism Standard, CRYSTALS-KYBER submission)
    * FIPS 204 (Module-Lattice-Based Digital Signature Standard, CRYSTALS-Dilithium submission)
    * FIPS 205 (Stateless Hash-Based Digital Signature Standard, SPHINCS+ submission)

    While the road to adoption will be a long one, this is a critical first step towards the future of quantum resistant cryptography.

  6. We need to make it easy to be able to sign images and documents, and then have browsers or other software verify that signature. We did it with TLS! Why not do it with just straight up documents and images. It would reduce though not remove the possibility of images and documents being faked. You know, like the one that's going around about the situation in Israel right now.

  7. Big win in the UK for Crypto Wars 2.0. Don’t think this will end the attacks on cryptography.

  9. @molly0xfff before anyone wastes half an hour of their time: he doesn't actually talk about crypto at all. it's only about cryptocurrency scams, with barely any technical details about them. #cryptomeanscryptography

  10. I hope every cryptocurrency company goes to zero value. I hope every cryptocurrency goes to zero value. Completely wiped out. If you're invested in one, I don't wish you harm, I wish you to exit your position. #cryptocurrency #cryptomeanscryptography

  12. Language/Mental Hack #423

    Zealot speculators of crypto-currencies like to call their assets/obsessions "crypto".

    It is misleading, as "#crypto" usually means "#cryptography", a useful science! It therefore brings confusion, associating cryptography with the speculative gambling of a few privileged people.

    I decided that to balance that, i would only refer to "crypto-currencies" as "currencies", in order to emphasize their monetary/financial nature.

    Words matter.
