#WhatImPlaying - Saturday 26th September
Not much this week.
I was originally waiting for my brother to be finished with #Wolverine, so I've spent a few evenings playing #CloneHero and #RocketLeague.
And then I splashed out on #ControlResonant.
I've put maybe two hours into it so far and I'm enjoying it. Initial impressions are that early game enemies are absolute sponges and I loath using the games map, although iirc those were issues with the first game too.
Partner is taking the kids out today so I'm expecting 2-3 hours of solo time so that's what I'll be doing.

I don't typically go for visual novel type games, but this thing may end up in my top 3 games of the year. Something about it just resonated with me in the most perfect way.
The two games aren't remotely similar, but it kinda strikes me in the same way a game called #BadNorth did a few years ago; an indie with a nice art style, that offers short burst gameplay that works beautifully on the Steamdeck/Switch.
Quickly becoming a game I think I'll send the next decade playing both with myself, and as my kids grow up, with them too. I'm awful at it, but I can feel myself getting better, strum by strum.
Still early on this one and I've seen some...things on the games subreddit that give me cause for concern (bugs and jank mainly) but the opening hour or two was really solid. Can't wait to get back to it tonight.

Managed to spend a good two hours playing #CloneHero this evening. I'm a distinctly average player who is very happy to play songs on medium difficulty.
Managed to take my perfects from 3 to 6 in one afternoon alone, so I'm feeling rather proud of myself right now.
Would have been one more but my ungrateful 4 year old fell into me as I was going for gold. The bastard.

Clone Hero v 1.1 is REALLY good. It has a level of polish not often seen in open source projects. It even has REAL-TIME ONLINE LEADERBOARDS! It’s easily the best Guitar Hero experience you can have in 2026.

Just added a few new songs to my #CloneHero installation. Including 'We're All To Blame' by Sum 41, a few Guns'n'Roses songs and of course...some #KpopDemonHunters songs to keep the kids happy.

Too fucking hot. Kids have been a nightmare. I lost my #FPL mini-league to my brother by 6 points....
But at least I've finally got a full combo/clear on #CloneHero song. Yes it was only on medium, but I'm still rather proud of myself. Bonus points because it's my favourite song of all time.

Big #CloneHero update dropped yesterday. It brings with it some nice UI updates and expanded controller support. The main new addition however are public leaderboards and a new feature that'll make playing at lower frame rates feel even better.
Can't wait to give it a look in a few hours.

It's almost done!!
The battery on my dremel-like tool died so I can't finish smoothing out the edges, but I did a test fit on the broken controller I bought to use for parts and I love it! It's such a small thing, but when I put this on my main controller and replace the neck, the main controller is going to look like a plastic replica of my main guitar. Even seeing this parts-controller has me grinning ear to ear!#DIY #GuitarHero #RockBand #YARG #CloneHero #RhythmGames #RhythmGaming

Life took some turns so progress has been slow while life events took priority, but I'm finally back at this project! So far I've verified my dremel-like tool can cut through the pickguard material, but it's kind of slow. To make things easier on myself, I got out my cordless drill and used its largest bit to drill a bunch of holes along the pickguard's outline. This is going to be so cool when it's done!

Well, I've been humbled boys and girls.
My partner, who grew up playing #RockBand and #GuitarHero just loaded up #CloneHero for the first time and absolutely knocked it out of the park.
I've been playing this game for a few hours every week and she's just rubbished me in a matter of seconds.

I've been really struggling to get into any new games the last month or so. #CloneHero and #RocketLeague aside, the only thing grabbing me is the wonderful #Sektori.
I've now put almost ten hours into this game. And I'm *finally* starting to get a feel for what the games wants. It's hard as nails but I can see that first 'clear' on the horizon.
I should note, I'm not really a schmup sort of game, but this thing..this thing is something else entirely.

I'm wondering if maybe I should just accept that nothing is going to take right now and move my attention onto my big #LordOfTheRings re-read that I've got planned for next year?
That or....maybe it's time to finally jump back in with another #Soulslike. Looking at you #LordsOfTheFallen.
