The "temporary" blue box I built 6 years ago with 1/4" ply has finally given up the ghost. Because the 13yo outgrew it and the 7yo still fits into the original box that came with the bike, I decided to restore the original box. After some sanding and staining, it's looking pretty good.
I wonder if I should patch up the holes I drilled (back in 2013) for seatbelt attachments? #Cetma #CargoBike #BikeTooter

Are you ever really too old for a nap in the #CargoBike?

So I show up with my mid-tail (a Yuba #Kombi), and the kids, who are in the super spacious almost 3ft-wide box in the #Cetma that my wife is riding, are like "we wanna go on dad's bike!"
So they both pile on, despite only having one cushion ("I'm sitting on a bike lock! " -7yo humblebrag)
And of course after a minute, the 7yo complains that the 12yo coughed loudly in her ear, and they start fighting about who should be banished to the bakfiet. 🙄

The bike itself (a #Cetma) was designed for a smaller box. We got around it, with a 32in wide box, by adding some 1x4s on each side to create a floor: https://social.ridetrans.it/@Andres4NY/111202858691907447
I used the same trick on my smaller Cetma (a white Margo; the orange one is a Largo). However, the smaller Cetma box is still only like 24in wide, while this one is currently *32* in. I'm betting 30in will be the right size for us.

They are also working on improving safety - they use XT90 power connectors and build their batteries with name-brand cells. I’m realistically hoping to get a couple of years of use from this kit before it dies. https://www.electrifybike.com/products/tsdz2b-osf-upgrade-motor-kit-250-750w #Cetma #EBikeConversion #ebike #CargoBike #Tongsheng #TSDZ2 (2/2)

Rode the Cetma across town a couple of times this morning with the trailer, a bike, and a bunch of random stuff. Not fun on the hills without the motor! #CargoBike #Cetma #ebike #BikeTooter

@Andres4NY My bikes live outdoors year round so I’m used to stuff failing. The charge indicators on the Hailong battery case stopped working about six months ago and I lost a lot of display pixels at about the same time. The only electronics that have survived multiple winters are my Busch + Muller bike lights (I have those on both my #Cetma and #Workcycles bikes). #WinterBiking #WinterCycling

Beautiful day for a ride on the cargo bike, but the Tongsheng motor’s control display kept shutting off and finally died. Off to eBay in search of a replacement… #cargoBike #Tongsheng #SW102 #ebike #Cetma

One of the things I never liked about my other #Cetma's blaq designs rain cover (which, admittedly, was high quality and has lasted > 10 years so far) is the included poles don't break down. So when you were riding around and it was sunny, there was no place to stow the rain cover. And because there was no place to stow the cover on/in the bike, there were times when we didn't have the cover and suddenly the weather got bad. Ultimately we just always kept the rain cover on because of that.

I'm planning make a rain cover for the new #Cetma (paying $500 for a rain cover feels weird when I spent $600 for the entire bike). However, I'm hoping to not have to sew or really expend much effort. So far, I've got 6mm tent poles, a double side-by-side stroller rain cover, and some metal snaps. The stroller cover fits nicely even on the 32" wide box. I still need to figure out how to attach the tent poles to the stroller cover.
