BIRDCAGE is a hybrid across time. On one hand, it’s as flashy as the best of 1990s #shmup s, with jamming music, striking visuals, and frenetic action. No matter how crowded the arcade is, you’re going to notice it. But its design philosophy is like a modern #Soulsborne game. It’s hard, and you’re going to have to ”#GitGud”, but the game fundamentally wants you to succeed and is meticulously laying out challenges to teach you the way.

I just cleared the hardcore #shump #BIRDCAGE and I'm having trouble believing I did it. I've never beat a game like this before, and I didn't think I was good enough yet.
But somehow, I didn't tense up thinking about how hard this was and just reacted.
It feels like I'm having a religious moment where the grand epiphany was that I was good enough all along.

Late #SteamNextFest recommendation for #BIRDCAGE. It's a stylish #shump that pairs two firing modes with a powerful ship-mounted sword... and then clobbers you so hard you wonder if you were good at video games.
But! It's the kind of brutal challenge that feel yourself improving at, and even just beating the first level on normal, I was already proud.

I made a thing. The misses bought a small metal bird cage on an unmentionable Chinese megastore, which I then proceeded to carve up with and angle grinder and turn into netting for something different and slightly more organic. I think it went pretty well.

Just realised it's two months since I flew out of the #Birdcage... and It feels like a lifetime ago.
#Mastodon is a much calmer, more reflective and connected space - my feed is no longer stuffed with the same (repeated!) tweets from a small handful of people - I am thrilled to see every post from everyone I follow, unfiltered by the blue bird's invisible algorithm designed to enrage.

Drüben im #Birdcage geht gerade wieder der Rechtsradikale Mob steil. Hier findet man nicht mal den Ortsnamen in den Beiträgen. Bemerke immer mehr, wie gut der Weggang von Twitter tat, wie wenig Lust ich weiterhin auf Facebook habe und das ich möglicherweise kurz davor bin, reale soziale Kontakte zu knüpfen.
(Spaß: Das ist hier alles sehr real, sehr sozial und pandemiebedingt echt nicht die schlechteste Wahl.) -
