@Broadfork I've been told he's annoying and shallow, although a good communicator. Watching this, he is certainly quick on his feet. I can see he'll get votes, but not yet from me. I've still got faith in Starmer, as more serious, even more so now I've heard him on BBCR4 'Private Passions'. Quiet determination does it for me.

@afewbugs @urlyman The BBC occasionally covers these issues quite well, on consumer and science and even political programmes. But definitely not enough. They've forgotten we're in a crisis. We're the blooming frogs not realising that the nice tepid water will soon boil. We absolutely must keep pushing them to do more. And to give Packham a sainthood while they're about it.

I just heard BBC Radio 4 interview with Keir Starmer ... I thought he was great ... I've been worrying about Labour getting things wrong, but he seems to me a very safe pair of hands. Even a little inspiring, but that's probably just me being over emotional. Am feeling positive for the first time for ages.

Amazon AWS now signed a deal for 3 SMRs to feed their power requirements. BBC R4 report that energy needs are set to increase 160% with 19% required by AI by 2028.

So that's the Microsoft 3 Mile Island refurb, 7 SMRs for Google and 3 more for Amazon. Meta next for sure. Our new nuclear powered overlords have arrived, and no one seems even inclined to do anything about any of it.
