Tried out our new lifevests in a pool today with the kids. The water was 20 degrees celcius, and the youngest one was freaking out and climbing on my face. In a real situation that would be really bad. Important preparedness experience now I know that in advance. Not sure what is the proper way to handle it though.

On Sunday night, something hit my head while I was out in the woods around twilight. All I heard was wings fluttering. It could have been a bird, or it could have been a #bat, and if it was a bat, it could have grazed my skin. My partner was hyperparanoid of #rabies , so I went to the emergency room, and they gave me a vaccine regimen (5 total, 2 the first day, one to trigger the immune response). As we came home, we saw the #raccoons in the trash. I asked her, "So I can go pet the raccoons now that I'm immune to rabies, right? That's how this works!" -
