  1. I am so old, that I can safely say that #webring [1] and #blogroll are the true origin of the #fediverse ;) A federated network that brought people together based on shared interests. #ActvityPub brings that approach back and allows us to leave the centralised networks behind. Things are getting better, IMHO :)

Trzeba przeczekać napór i poszukać rozwiązania później.

  3. @npub14hfd95cq89zt0w9w68qed86wc50dg0wakvasncmjzpt39atphsfs22kmpg I created a feed for "web stuff" that contain hashtags like "javascript" and such.

The funny thing is that, the only posts that contain those hashtags come from the #Fediverse via bridges.

So, #Nostr is actually becoming a better interface for #ActvityPub 😆

  4. @jordesign I just have my template setup to share the post excerpt with a link to the full content. With the Block Editor content can get really messed up when trying to share the full content via #ActvityPub

  6. Since I’m a web developer for my university’s student paper I have a chance of implementing activitypub stuff with their website. The thing is I have no idea if activitypub would be useful for rich text articles right now. I’ve seen some people post massive blog posts as statuses on mastodon and it looks horrible.

Anyone have insight into that? #actvitypub #Fediverse

  7. @evan Do new users not on the social web need to even be aware of #ActvityPub? The analogy I always like to use when describing complex protocols and systems is: I don’t know how my car’s transmission works. I don’t care. I just want it to go when I hit gas. What does the “Easy Button” for the social web look like? I have no idea, but with every iteration and every new user entering the space, I think we’re getting closer.

  8. The single most important thing to look out for is the difference between actually adopting a technology and “adopting” it. And this must be looked at not from the perspective of the user, but from that of the Big & Famous: how can they best use it to serve _their own_ interest?

And here's the thing: #Meta‌/‌#Facebook has _literally nothing_ to gain from _actually adopting_ #ActvityPub, exactly as it had nothing to gain from #RSS or from #XMPP

    Good written overview.

Some people see just Mastodon, some even just the app on their smartphone.

But the protocol is what is really interesting.

Yes, some companies started to adapt their systems. I wonder when some of the usual non-core web-tech or social network enterprises will jump on it and start projects based on in it. E.g. adapting their web content management system.

  14. I've been seeing some interesting lightweight/minimal #ActvityPub “microplatforms” or libraries that would be easier to integrate with my static blog-like website.
Still, I think that one of the things that I dislike the most about any currently existing solution is their dependencies on database engines.
It's not that I don't get _why_, but I don't like it and I would rather see something entirely filesystem-based.

  15. @okuramasafumi ohh also that, Mastodon is just an implementation. You can find more about using #ActvityPub as your base search term:

  21. Not sure how to feel about this. It feels validating, but do we need that validation? Also not sure the kinda community hangs out over there on Tumblr. Let’s also not forget the technical aspects of it all. Would be a huge number of new people.

  23. Popular Twitter alternative Mastodon now has an official Android app, but don’t ignore excellent 3rd party alternatives

gadgeteer.co.za/wp-content/upl Mastodon has been one of the best alternatives to corporate social networks over the past few years, with its decentralised design and open protocols. The platform released its own app for iOS last year, and […]

  24. @clacke thanks for sharing. @GuppeGroups was originally just a practice project to get familiar with #ActvityPub because I really wanted to build the decentralized immersive web metaverse with @ImmersSpace, but it turns out people actually like it. A portion of my new grant work will be spent improving a shared library of AP code so that Guppe can get upgraded as well

  25. Since you're here, check out my soundcloud: immers.space
It's the #metaverse but powered by #ActvityPub, the same decentralized tech as Mastodon

  26. @django I see you posting about implementing #ActvityPub. Whatcha working on?

  27. @alexcastano @bhaugen @ivan @mayel @lynn

Hi Alex I just stumbled across this discussion and see you're looking into a generic #ActvityPub implentation. If you're not tied to that tech stack, I have a modular AP library for NodeJS github.com/wmurphyrd/activityp
It is not yet complete, but it is functional

  28. #Diffu will allow any #ActvityPub account owners to request a ticket, get it through direct message and click on embedded link to access new article editor. This article will be published on the Diffu instance and shareable on #Fediverse
