  1. @jace Johnson's comments were so very disturbing. But as Pride Month begins, I'm holding on to this hopeful story from Innisfail, just up to the road. albertaviews.ca/innisfail-prid :CApride: #abvote #abvotes

  2. Kinda amazing how many consequential outcomes in Alberta politics over the past year have been decided by votes of just over 50%

May 2022: Jason Kenney gets 51.4% support in leadership review. He resigns.

October 2022: Danielle Smith wins UCP leadership on sixth round of voting with 53.8% of the ballots.

May 2023: UCP wins election with 52.6% of the popular vote.

  3. Alberta elections, historically, tend to be blowouts. Not many close contests.

The seat margin in this year's vote is the smallest there's ever been. (11 seats separate government & official opposition, if you include Jennifer Johnson with the UCP; 10 seats if you don't.)

  4. last night could have gone better, but the hyperbole is a bit much. getting 38 seats and 44% of the vote in a province that's had various flavours of conservative governments for almost its entire history is something to be hopeful for. #AbElection2023 #abvote

  5. UCP incumbent Whitney Issik is up by one vote over NDP challenger Nagwan Al-Guneid with nearly 15,000 votes cast in Calgary-Glenmore.

  6. Everyone needs to chill out about these early election results lol

There are 10,000 ballots cast so far, out of about 2 million to likely come, and they are mostly from advance, mobile & special ballots.

In a bunch of riding, there has been a *single vote* counted.

To call it early would be a major understatement.

  7. Seeing some trolling defacement of election signs. How soon until this is declared something it’s not?

  8. A friend snagged one of these from the side of a public road after the last provincial election. It’s still a relevant commentary on the UPC.

  11. My nephew turned 18 this month - just in time to be able to vote in Alberta’s provincial election. Delighted to say that he was very excited to cast his first ballot. Hoping lots of younger Albertans are similarly inspired to make their votes and voices count today. #abvote #abvotes #Alberta

  12. One of the big issues burbling under the surface of the Alberta election is whether the province should pull out of the Canada pension plan. I recently assembled a panel of very smart Albertans to debate the pros and cons of a stand alone Alberta pension.
