#climatechage has failed to generate action as it is defined by liberal #mainstreaming, it was designed to be weak and fail.
But the radical #climatechaos has been #blocked and ignored... so best to use both, and hope for action.

How to make health systems climate-resilient? I am pleased to announce the first of two reports:
Healthcare System-of-Systems Vulnerability
https://doi.org/10.13140/RG.2.2.14807.23209➡️ In this report, we assess health system vulnerabilities to climate change, and its dependencies on failures in supporting systems (energy, transport, digital, water, waste).

I appreciated this piece in the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists abt “Science Moms”. These moms with backgrounds in science are leading education efforts around climate change.
I found this closing observation inspiring — “I plan to fight until I can’t anymore…When I drop in the traces and can’t go any farther, my kids will step right over me and get up that hill.”

News about the catastrophic collapse of insect populations are one of the things that freak me out the most about climate change:

I want to say the main reason the great salt lake is dying because too much water is diverted from it.
Insisting that people in the basin embrace the reality of climate change is a little beside the point. As the Great Salt Lake withers and dies, so will all the cities in the basin.
The lake needs more water.

Arctic Seed Vault Shows the Flawed Logic of #ClimateAdaptation
Difficulties of #Svalbard #seed repository illustrate why we need to prevent #climate disaster rather than plan for it
The seed vault embeds a conceit common to many adaptation plans: we know what we are facing, so if we plan well, things will go well. Given the state of action (or inaction) on #climatechage, we don’t have to ask whether Arctic warming and permafrost loss will escalate. It is a near certainty.

NOAA just released its forecast for the 2024 Atlantic #hurricane season and everything points to a lot of storms, with 4-7 of them becoming major storms.
An expert on extreme weather explains what has led to the high accumulated cyclone energy that has meteorologists concerned:

Another one of ABC's “It your fault as the Consumer” articles. The takeaway from this is our clothes are made overseas and you should wear synthetic fibre clothing longer.
I think the message should be try and buy local if possible, natural fibre clothing. We should be approaching retailers to encourage a shift towards non-synthetic fibre clothing, and we should be asking why the government does not do more to help the local clothing industry.

Bill McKibben has an interesting article on the social implications of climate change.
It's titled "Where should I live," but it's also about how should we live.
https://billmckibben.substack.com/p/where-should-i-live
It's worth reading and pondering

Really want to give it up for all the news reports out there talking about the fires in Yellowknife and Canada in general but scrupulously avoiding any mention of global warming. Great work out there. Really helping people understand the world they're living in. I'm sure your corporate paymasters are quite happy with your work.

This is one of the driest winter periods I can remember here in Southern England. I’ve recorded just 2mm rainfall since 17th January! With reservoirs in SW England still below normal following last summer’s drought, this doesn’t bode well for the summer ahead.

This is not satire, I repeat, not satire. Stuff is a genuine news site and this is actual news.
Auckland Council, the same week as Auckland gets smashed by a 'freak' 1 in 1000 storm, again, decide to cut climate change spending
