Wenn sie Wissenschaftler zum Einstellen der Forschung und zum Selbstmord treiben können, können sie auch Staatschefs zur Kriegserklärung treiben.

Wokay la série Netflix du Problème à Trois Corps qui dans le premier épisode avance l'histoire de l'équivalent d'une dizaine de ceux de la série chinoise.

Ce qui peut être logique si la saison 1 est aussi l'équivalent du premier tome du livre, soit 8 épisodes contre 30 pour la série chinoise...

My #3body problem.
Well, not Three Body Problem specifically, it crops up regularly in sci fi works.
At one point, as supposedly highly advanced intelligence refers to "the three dimensions in which we live."
Except we don't. Spacetime is four dimensions. Or at least, we can perceive four.

Well, having binged #ThreeBodyProblem after watching Tencent's #3body adaptation (the Netflix one is much better), now I turn to James #Clavell's #*Shōgun. *Starting the novel while I torrent the 1980 NBC adaptation with Richard Chamberlin (it won 3 Emmys!).

Is it just me or have the quality of old show #torrents gone up dramatically of late? I actually found a torrent of the only season of #NBC's 1982 series Voyagers! (which was a big favourite of 7 yr old me): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voyagers!

The #3Body Problem novels suffer the time jump problem to a lesser degree; book 2 The Dark Forest is a separate cast set some time after book 1. #Netflix's #ThreeBodyProblem I felt adapted to the time jump and mitigated the cast change in a novel way; it also explains why the few pivotal characters in book1 were surrounded by all these other characters; their roles come into play for book 2.

I only had the intellectual capacity to sort-of climb through and mostly understand book 1. Excited to grok more through the series, while being absolutely gobsmacked by the acting and visuals. ✨

Watched the first episode of western produced #3body problem. Littered with Kiwi influences and speed running the first 10 episodes of the PRC produced series released last year. Very much enjoyable vs the Slog that was the PRC 3 Body production #scifi #tv

Aaand its bedtime. Just binged e1-5 of #Netflix's #3body #ThreeBodyProblem. Quite excellent. No spoilers but:

- waay better screenwriting than the Tencent adaptation
- teeny bit less faithful to the book
- location shift to the UK doesn't really affect much
- does a better job at the time jumps
- moves a LOT brisker
- trimmed out some stuff that I don't find are missed
- the hard concepts are explained really well
- the cool bits are HECKA GOOD (yay Netflix budget)
- casting is *excellent*.

I'm currently plowing my way through #tencent production #3body, #threebody , the Chinese adaptation of Liu Cixin's #Hugo winning #ThreeBodyProblem , the 1st novel in the Remembrance of Earth's Past #scifi trilogy.

(supposedly its on #PrimeVideo , but not in Canada so I had to #torrent it)

Its a 30 part miniseries, I'm on episode 5 and I'm hooked. It has a few pedantic parts (they really want you to catch a few key tidbits), but overall its amazingly faithful to the book and looks great.

Totally drawn in to #3Body - the Chinese dramatisation of #ThreeBodyProblem available in full for free on YouTube! It's been a while since I read the book and it feels like it deviates a bit from the original (which would have been impossible to make cohesive). But to be fair I'm only half way through and the really mad stuff hasn't started yet! Just about to get to 'The Game'. But huge thanks to @KateOfMind for letting me know about it. I also like Wang and am warming to Da Shi, despite him not being at all as I imagined.

Super looking forward to the Netflix adaptation, although I can see a lot of pausing and explaining going on, as my daughter wants to watch it and she wasn't able to keep up with Oceans 11, so I don't know how the relative concepts of physics are going to land...

@alisca There are some aspects of the book that aren't great, but there are also some things that I really like (humans never see Trisolarans). I hope that they don't tamper with that aspect.

I also think the countdown clock on people's vision looks a little overdone. The book seems to describe this as a subtle but inescapable distraction. The trailer makes it look like it's vision-destroying.

I'll certainly wait and see before really coming to a conclusion. #3body
