  1. Finally finished this book... What can I say?

A wild ride, truly unique! 🌏🚀🌌📃✨🔮

Although I am not happy with everything, I am still in awe, and have a couple of things to think on 🙂

Civilization Number 6 is obliterated by extreme cold from one of the flying stars.
Civilization Number 7 only progressed to the point of developing Pawternity Tests using Bear Stuffing but was destroyed by Tsarina Beatrix's Chaotic Reign Era (we don't complain).
Civilization did not re-emerge for 90 million years.
Pleaae log-in again and enjoy the exciting world of the 3 Body Problem!

  4. So, I read the three "Three Body Problem" books (there's probably a word for three consecutive linked works of art ... Matrix Resurrections).

The last book is definitely the best for story and storytelling (and the translator deserves an honourable mention (but I won't)).

However, I'm going to recommend that if you are not sure that it's worth reading any of them then you should read the very last part of the third book "Death's End". It's short-story-essay length. Doing that won't spoil your enjoyment of the series but it may even make you smile.

  6. If the Tri-Solarans realized the #Sophons would be much more effective if they created a #socialmedia with an algorithm that made people anti-intellectual, anti-science, racist, and bigotted, they....
    Oh.
    Nevermind.

  7. Just finished the Chinese "#ThreeBody" series. In some ways it had better depictions than the Netflix version, but wow, the pacing is glacial. Also, the start and end credits are, like, 15 minutes of each 45 minute episode.

  8. @TheSpaceshipper

I really like it and can't wait for season 2. Season 1 was 30 episodes and basically all of Book one. While I did like the Netflix series, I liked this version much more.

  9. They're playing a game called "3 body" and it doesn't occur to any of the astrophysicists that they're dealing with the 3 body problem? #ThreeBody

  10. I’m on episode 27 of Three-Body (the Tencent version from China). I loved the book and this series is insanely good.

I hope they produce a series for the other two books.

  11. I'm only on episode 2 of Three Body and it is so much better, by leaps and bounds, than the Netflix adaptation. If you read the books, I mean, which I did but it's been a few years so I didn't really focus on the books while watching Netflix's version.

  13. The #Netflix drama's depiction of China is, well, problematic. How did the people of China react to it? In this issue I highlight what Chinese viewers think about the 3 Body Problem.

  15. To be clear, it's not that I didn't like #ThreeBody #Netflix because it has been "Westernised" or even that major Chinese characters have been replaced.
To me it's crime was dumbing down almost everything and reducing Ye Wenjie's character to a religious fanatic ☠️.
And yea, I more or less expected the Cultural Revolution to depicted in the most shock value way ever, but to my surprise it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

  16. Watching #Netflix #ThreeBody.

    Welp.

China's Tencent version is still far superior.

The Netflix version whacks you over the head and yells, "Do you get it?? Do you get it??"

Tencent's version was poetic compared to Netflix's.

There's little nuance, gravitas, depth. Ye Wenjie's character was butchered beyond repair 🥴☠️

That's the most unforgiveable of all.

  17. The reaction on Chinese social media to Netflix's adaptation of "The Three-Body Problem" has been mixed, but Vox's Aja Romano argues that depictions of nationalistic outrage are probably exaggerations. She unpacks the response to this adaptation, the book trilogy, and Tencent's "Three Body," and says this time around, the problem is Netflix, not Chinese viewers.
