And don't get me started on the clusterfuck that the #EU is, not even having a unified presentation for its own citizens to get passports easily, when they have been forced to exile due to lack of opportunities in the EU.

No, if you're from a small EU country like #Finland, you have to travel far to a different country to get one, and it costs so much that it's better to just fly intercontinentally to Finland… if your passport is still valid and not lost/stolen.

  5. I translated Lovecraft's short story 'The Cats of Ulthar' into Provençal as best as I could. I'm sure I made plenty of errors since I'm still far from fluent, but I figured it was short and would make for fun practice.

  9. Introduktionstid! 👋

  14. I translated (or tried my best anyway) the play "Le Drac" by George Sand, first published in 1861.

Like myself in the books I'm writing, Sand was inspired by the traditional Provençal legend of the drac, but Sand's play presents a somewhat different, more playful version of this being.

It was a fun challenge, if not always easy, and I'm sure I've made plenty of mistakes 😳 stveje.dk/george_sand/drac/

  19. At last, my introduction to the #Provençal #language has been updated and expanded! All the previous parts have been consolidated into one (massive) page, and the whole thing is essentially complete, although I'll keep making improvements here and there as I keep learning.

A two-reply back-and-forth about how a sequel-opening line creates “wait, what?!” curiosity and keeps readers going.

  21. 26: Who's your favorite vampire?

I was going to say no one, since I don't honestly think most of the vampire characters I know are all that interesting, but then I remembered Bodhi from Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn. As the sister and partner-in-crime of the greatest villain of all times (in my expert opinion), she could've easily been overshadowed but managed to hold her own, enhancing the mood of the game and creating a memorable challenge for the player.

  25. #PennedPossibilities 1019 — Has your SC ever been bullied? By who, and for what reason?

Before she met Anaïs, Nadia and Mélissa, Leila didn't really have any friends and was often bullied by other kids at school — for being "fat", for being "weird", for being shy, for wearing a hijab, for being scared of spiders, for being a girl who plays video games (only boys do that you know), ... in other words, for simply being.

  26. Tried making a sandwich inspired by a photo I saw. Homemade rye focaccia with mashed potatoes, grilled soy “meat”, radishes, and tomato-spinach relish. The focaccia was supposed to be topped with black and rosé pepper, but I should’ve realized that the rosé pepper was going to end up black after being in the oven 😂

  27. 19: What % of your typical day involves writing|writing-adjacent activities (including thinking about it, lol).

Depends. For example, right now I'm working on my website (the regular ritual of re-coding everything from scratch because I'm unhappy with how I coded it last time) and not doing any writing, so my typical day right now involves maybe less than 5% thinking about writing and 0% actual writing (unless PHP, HTML & CSS counts).

Other times a typical day is nearer to 50%.

  28. I was out shopping and passed two women chatting. I didn't understand what they were saying, but I could immediately tell that they were speaking Persian and even recognized a few words. How cool is that! My Persian needs a lot more practice, but I feel like it's a small sign of progress.

Some people complain when refugees and immigrants don't speak the local language, but I find it delightful! I wish more people would celebrate the wealth of human language and culture.
