Cool to see leading companies like Prezly using Plausible to publish industry reports, in a completely privacy-preserving way.
That's one use of Plausible that wasn't on our 2026 bingo card. 😄

Most sites with GA are transferring 12+ GB/month they don't need to.
That's slowing down the very thing you're trying to measure.
The GA script is 135kB (gzipped). But with 100K monthly visitors, you transfer:
• 12.9 GB/month
• With GTM: 17.2 GB/month
• With GTM + OneTrust: 28.7 GB/month!In contrast, Plausible transfers 244 MB for 100K monthly visitors. 117x less data transferred.
We built a calculator so you can measure the real impact of your analytics setup. https://plausible.io/google-analytics-script-size

Plausible Analytics. Open source, based in the EU. No cookies. No personal data collected. Script size under 1 KB.
Google Analytics collects behavioral data, builds advertising profiles, and routes it through US servers subject to CLOUD Act and FISA 702.
Plausible counts page views and respects the person behind them. We use it on only-eu.eu ourselves.

@vsantos autoalojado?

National government does NOT subsidise, and often can't even find out how much subsidy has been spent! This isn't just #plausibleDeniability. It also shows a much more decentralised version of governance and funding than the term #autocracy is usually taken to imply. #china #geoeconomics #AIEthics

New article: "Self-hosting Plausible broke my analytics"
After years on #PlausibleAnalytics I switched to self-hosting and sadly, I’m not exactly happy with the result.
-
After I switched from Plausible Cloud to a self-hosted instance I noticed a LOT of bot traffic in my stats, which didn't use to be there before.
Look at the screenshot and guess when I switched to self-hosting Plausible...
Turns out that #PlausibleAnalytics only gives you basic bot filters on the open source version, you need to pay for the cloud version to get the "advanced" filtering.
That's super disappointing. Is that really how you want me to force to pay €290 per year?
It’s fine to lock some pro features to the cloud version, but this seems like a basic requirement for analytics software?

Wrote up a quick post about the migration process of moving my website's page view data from #Plausible to #Umami

RE: https://androiddev.social/@msfjarvis/115840000404591464
Turns out this was actually 108 gigabytes. Either way, I've now migrated from #Plausible to #Umami for my analytics needs and was able to transfer all my data seamlessly. Hopefully I won't have to switch to something else again, but just in case I did provision stats01, stats02 and stats03 domains for experiments :P

I really need to stop using #Plausible, the disk space usage from its Clickhouse dependency is just patently absurd. There is no world where I have enough analytics data stored for my website that it needs 90 gigabytes of storage space.

@SusiArnott I see your point Susi, but this lose the-judicial-review option has already been floated by journalists with vastly more reach than me. And even if well publicised, it comes with excellent #PlausibleDeniability.
Independent decision by the #IndependentJudiciary, old chap. Etc
