@FediThing I suspect a lot of long-term Gemini (protocol) people think of it like Michael Bolton in Office Space. "Why should I change? He's the one who sucks."
That said, I do recall some re-focusing from the Gemini hashtag to the #GeminiProtocol hashtag at some point, specifically to mitigate the issue, at least with online posting.

@FediThing I thought about it when I initially got into #gemini. My hope is that at some point, the Google AI thing changes name, get abandoned, or that the whole Ai-hype collapses.
Then only #geminiprotocol will exist.

Is there any chance of the Gemini Protocol renaming itself in some way? I know it came before Google's AI but it's almost impossible to bring up Gemini (the protocol that has nothing to do with AI) without people assuming it is Gemini (the AI). It's like most of the character limit has to go on this disclaimer every time it's mentioned.
I know this isn't fair, but it seems to be the situation Google has caused?
Maybe it could be a variation on the name like "Gem" or "GemPro" or similar?
Has there been any discussion of this topic in Gemini Protocol circles?

Might still be an interesting couple of projects. Just that bit less interesting. The part of Gemini I like the least is the pointless messing about with certs.
