  1. A short reintroduction. I'm designing Vienna 1814: Waltz of Nations — a board game about the Congress of Vienna seen from the side history classes tend to skip: salons, gossip, romance, intrigue and social ambition, played through real historical figures. Still in development, and I'm sharing the process openly as it slowly becomes playable.

  2. Vienna 1814: Waltz of Nations is less a puzzle to solve than a city to get lost in.

By day, you wander the famous corners of Vienna. By evening, you disappear into its parties — gossip, romance, intrigue, and the slow art of winning powerful people to your side.

Meanwhile, Europe still needs rebuilding after years of war.
Somebody has to do it between dances.

The Flea Market in Vienna / Der Tandelmarkt in Wien Ferdinand Weckbrodt, undated.
I love the framing here. The market is almost hidden behind the buildings, as if we are just approaching it — which gives the scene a slightly suspicious charm.
In Vienna 1814: Waltz of Nations, the Tandelmarkt appears as a gateway to more… unorthodox activities.

  4. Small Congress scandal: at the opening ball of the Congress of Vienna, rumour had it that a quarter of the 10,000 silver teaspoons bearing the imperial crest quietly disappeared into the crowd.

I would treat this more as a perfect Congress anecdote than a precise inventory report — but honestly, that makes it even better.
Diplomacy, spectacle, gossip… and apparently a few unofficial souvenirs.

  5. Everybody, please stop naming European countries. I beg you. The magic die list is finally complete 🎲
Number 6 is Romania — specifically Transylvania 🧛‍♂️

Tomorrow the die decides which country gets the next deep dive into a real person connected to the Congress of Vienna.

    Final list:
    1 — Andorra
    2 — Finland
    3 — Austria
    4 — Serbia
    5 — Greece
    6 — Romania / Transylvania
