I keep trying to find a less-cringe way to say "weaponize" in the context of PoCs but the best I've come up with is "made actionable" which is not a lot better. What verbs do y'all use for it?

oh crap. i hadn’t heard that bob cringely had morted a few weeks ago.
back when i was a greasy grad student, i had access to a research lab full of digitizing equipment, meant for handling interview tapes. this was back in the day when digitizing analog video wasn’t cheap to do.
i found out that my university library had a decade-old copy of Nerds 2.0.1 - a cringely documentary that had disappeared entirely after it had aired in the late 90s. there were no digital copies online.
so naturally, i checked out the library vhs copy and spent a weekend in the research lab making a pirated copy. i uploaded it TPB and a private tracker, and it eventually ended up on youtube.
for about 20 years this was the only version of Nerds 2.0.1 on the internet. i assume someone else has digitized it from better tapes by now.
RIP Cringely.

The ones she most and least wants to hear belong to the very same man: Elric. Zerika would want to hear his thoughts, and then would immediately cringe at the thought of "tuning in" to hear. What if he secretly finds her unattractive, boring as far as company goes, or think she's completely idiotic for not being good at talking to strangers? How would he feel about her not knowing how to read? (Spoiler alert, he doesn't care. In fact, he offers to teach her. He actually adores her.) All of these questions and thoughts would immediately flood her. I can feel her anxiety through the screen, poor thing.
Also... Not even kidding about this, but it gives me some ideas for an upcoming tale in the series, so thank you for that!

#WordWeavers Oct. 22: Share a sentence from your WIP that you're especially proud of.
Not many sentences in this WIP, yet, but I'm proud of "Gonna get deep in our cups, yo!" I feel like it smashes together fantasy faux-olde-worldeyness with fratbro douchebaggery in just the way I'm aiming for, and it makes me cringe a little every time I read it.

But besides the aforementioned effect on society writ large that these individual small blips build up into, there is another part of this that bothers me.
And this plays into a personal bugbear of mine: I HATE to be lied to. Not that I think anyone likes it, exactly, but for personal history reasons that are Sad, it's a real problem for me. Do not lie to me.
And today Ms. Canvasser said, "You look friendly!" [NB: I absolutely do not.] Sometimes it's, "Hey, I like your beard!" "Hey, I like your pins!"
This feels greasy. I get the full body cringe: I am being lied to with a smile. You don't fucking care about my beard. You just want money. Do not fucking lie to me.

Also, maybe just a me thing(?), but I more strongly identify with opposition to things than support for things. I’m a hater. I have so many words to identify the things I hate. But I myself identify with very little. I don’t want to be lumped into any sort of collective because some of the people in the collective will be dumb bad people who will make me look dumb and bad in turn. I used to really like Bernie Sanders. CRINGE! I secretly really like Harry Potter. TRANSPHOBIC! Some people do feel comfortable in collectives and I mostly privately or publicly think they are silly. Like LessWrong rationalists, omnicause leftist activists, all political parties. I seem to just want to be alone in some black tower overseeing and judging the world while contributing nothing.

Paegan Terrorism Tactics is really grungy for an album that was released when grunge was slowly on the decline.
It lacks a bit the rawness and aggressiveness of the first one, but it's a sophisticated well written gem. And they even pull of a not cringy ballad. I didn't like the one on the first one.
