I designed a #SMD adapter board using @kicad and let @aislerhq manufacture them. They are for #SOT23 on one side and #SOT363 on the other side. They bridge the gap of a #solderless #breadboard, so they are perfect for #prototyping circuits or trying out new components - or as replacement for through-hole parts. I soldered a dual diode #BAV70 on one and a dual NPN/PNP transistor #BC847BPN on a second one to try them out. I'm satisfied how they look, although the white area for labeling is a bit small - I need a thinner pen for that.

Second #soldering exercise: #SMD parts. They were very fiddly and I think I'll stick with 1208 or 0805. Those 0603 resistors were too small for my taste. Also, I had two little errors at the first go, one of the 0603s and one pin at the SOT23-5s weren't soldered properly, leading to two LEDs not lighting up.

@richardtroupe Twisting off SMD caps is Adrian Blacks goto method. Apparently the trick is not to pull or try to lift them as you twist.

Designing my first real #smd component #circuitBoards has been fun. I finally acquiesce and got a hot air rework station and a trove of basic smd components. Not leaving through-hole behind, just expanding horizons.
Time to put my #acidEtch skillz to the test. I generally do toner transfers to "Press 'n Peel Blue" I think it's called - an excellent transfer medium.
