I'm just now listening (for maybe the thousandth time) to #ShirleyHorn's "May the Music Never End" album, and it's sooo great. Her vocals and piano playing are both amazing. Every time I listen to one of her albums I think it's my favorite, until I listen to another one.

A beautiful jewel-like #dolichopodid #fly (Condylostylus?). These love to pose for the camera. They'll flit away, then come back again and again.

I just finished reading the three volumes of "Velvet" by Ed #Brubaker and Steve #Epting.
Velvet Templeton was a top-notch secret agent for spy agency ARC-7 until a tragedy ended her career as a field operative. The agency took care of her and gave her a desk job as the director's assistant. Now it's 20 years later, and someone is killing agents and has framed Velvet for the crime.
This is a fun spy story with gorgeous artwork.

Yesterday I read "It's Lonely at the Centre of the Earth" by Zoe #Thorogood. It's a terrific piece of autobiography. She never stops questioning her honesty and digging deep into her motives. I don't remember who said that autobiography is the highest form of fiction, but it's tempting to spin your life into a simple, satisfying story. I like that she works very hard to avoid that, and leaves in all the open-ended complications.

Some #music to raise your spirits and tap you toes.
Annette #Hanshaw was one of the great singers of the 1920s. You've heard her music if you've watched the film "Sita Sings the Blues".Here's a good sample of her music from archive.org:

Two other #AnneTyler books that stand out in my mind:
"Noah's Compass"
"Digging to America" -
I'd have to say "Clock Dance", by #AnneTyler. Really, the same goes for any of her books. By the end of the book you've come to know and (at least) sympathize with the characters, and you're sad you'll never see them again.

I currently #amreading "#Rumpole and the Primrose Path" by John #Mortimer . By now, I've read more Rumpole stories than were ever adapted for TV, but no matter how many of these books I read I'll always see Leo McKern in my head while I'm reading them.
These are great cozy comfort reads for a cold day.

L'UTOPIE OU LA MORT
René Dumont (1974, Seuil)
iBouquin:https://mega.nz/file/ARpX0bCJ#ZucEXwQO9vvUhZpFU231TwT-NVehGF_AFQuOJVECWHk
Si t'as les moyens:
René Dumont (1904-2001);
