I'm a bit of a #HomeAutomation nut, and I have two cats whose #litterbox is a #LitterRobot made by #Whisker. The mobile app is supposed to notify me whenever the litter drawer gets full, but it's never worked. (Yes, I've already tried logging out/in, uninstalling/reinstalling, clearing cache, disabling battery optimization, etc.)
My main hub is a #Hubitat C-7, and until recently, there was an unofficial Litter Robot integration in #HubitatPackageManager that allowed me to circumvent the Whisker app notification issue. Then, Whisker changed their #API, which broke the Hubitat integration, and I was back to manually checking the Whisker app every day.
Turns out, there's a #HomeAssistant integration that supports the new API, so today, I implemented the most #RubeGoldberg workaround I've ever seen. I installed #Portainer on my #RaspberryPi, spun up HA in #Docker, installed #HACS, enabled the Hubitat #MakerAPI integration, connected it all up, and now my notifications are working again!

Making an untreated ADHD patient jump through countless administrative and scheduling hoops is like asking a #blind person to solve one of those traffic light #CAPTCHAs, or asking a #deaf person to name the title and artist of a song playing on the radio.
Seriously, I'm losing my cool over here, and it's not just my #hyperactive sense of #injustice. This kind of policy should be straight up illegal. 🤬

Today, I finished the first phase of a project I've been working on for several months: A fully automated #PowerBI #MicrosoftFabric tenant backup solution, written in #PowerShell.
My key takeaway from this project: Always keep tabs on adjacent #OpenSource projects, and leverage their innovations.

I've never owned any vinyl records, and I'm certainly not about to start collecting digitally mangled music on floppy disks, but I have many unpopular opinions and preferences which tend to make most folks question my sanity, so if you happen to enjoy hearing the effects of aggressive dynamic range compression and bit depth/sample rate reduction in your music, then who am I to question your tastes? 🤔
I'll just be over here, patiently awaiting the inevitable MiniDisc Renaissance. 💽

I've never understood why the act of taking a screenshot generates a persistent notification by default in most screenshot apps.Like, I already know a screenshot was taken; I'm the one who took it! And if I need to do something with the screenshot I just took, I want to either click on an ephemeral toast notification that pops up immediately after, or set the screenshot app to save all screenshots to a folder, and then retrieve them from there if/when I need them.
Persistent notifications for ephemeral actions should not exist.

Well, I have one docking station that still works after several years with no hiccups. It just doesn't have all the features I need, so that's why I "upgraded" to the Wavlink model. Anyway, I just switched to #Targus, which has a 3-year warranty, so if it keeps happening, at least I'll get free replacements for 3 years instead of just 1 year. -

Yep. The brand is #Wavlink. To their credit, they've been prompt about sending a replacement each time it's happened, but I've only had it since June, and this is the third failure. Their customer service is great, but their QC... Not so much. -
