  1. In The Sea Around Us, #RachelCarson says that it is well known in Europe that #oysters reach their peak #spawning activities during a spring tide. Is this also true of oysters in NYC? I know they tend to spawn when the waters are warm. A spring tide would mean a strong flood which would bring in lots of food.

Yes. They are horrible. And ridiculous and challenging and expensive. The one near Stuyvesant I'd very rarely take. Squirrel cage sums them up. There's one in Inwood at the southeast end of Dyckman I avoid.

  8. Just saw the remake of Stop Making Sense at Lenfest at Columbia University. During the following Q&A period it came out that the Long Island release of the movie was at the Syosset Cinema 150. David Byrne is a genius and should be next mayor of NYC incinerama.com/ua_cinema_150_s

  13. Reading Crossings in ch 9 The Last Frontier and really mad at the sanctimonious assholes who run #nybg and #BronxZoo . Fuck them . Fuck them . Fuck them .

  14. Went on a bird walk this morning in #RiversideParkNY led by Torie of the #RiversideParkConservancy . Lots of birds out. Even with all the dogs yapping. The birds still move too fast for me so I ended up taking photos of infrastructure. Mostly stairs with handrails for #MapComplete and #OpenStreetMap.

  15. #Riverside Drive between 102 and 95 has this large painted median in the center. Essentially a no-mans land but can and will be used by cars to get around double parked cars or bicycles or other slow moving vehicles. #NYCDOT Please make it a single double yellow with a single width bike lanes on each side. Now to send this to NYC DOT.

  20. @transportationalternatives The #UFT is making a big mistake by opposing congestion pricing. Fuck them. Where are they on closing the streets in front of schools? Nowhere. Fuck them twice.

  21. I found a button in my Windows 10 Task bar called the Activity button that when I clicked it had all this information from forever. WTF? I did a web search and found how to remove it but it didn't work. Had to go to some website to remove all this crap and I still don't know if its gone.

  22. #RiversideParkNYC or #nycparks or #NaturalAreasConservancy has been really busy in a good way (IMHO) in the area downhill from Grant's Tomb and just north of the 119th Street Tennis Courts. Forestry has been here and cut down trees which were not needed and would have allowed goats to escape.

Also note the addition of coir logs which prevent water from cascading down the hillside.

I don't know why some of the cuts on the trunks have been painted.

  27. Installing #asphaltArt on 103rd on the #upperWestSide of #manhattan has brought out an incredible reaction. Much negativity. Incredible #carbrain. Last night's negative comment from someone who remembers trolleys in #redHook: too expensive. Countered saying it wasn't expensive and what is expensive is the scheduled repaving of streets whether they need it or not.

  28. A friend took a nice photo of one of my pinwheels in the morning sun on 103rd.
