Looking south on the long sweep of Durham Heritage Coast heading down past Horden towards Blackhall Rocks.
The cliffs are punctured by the entrances to a number of 'denes' and smaller openings called 'gills' namely Fox Holes Dene, Warren House Gill, Blackhills Gill, Limekiln Gill, Castle Eden Dene, Blue House Gill and Crimdon Dene.
Film buffs, of course, will point out a stretch of beach just past Castle Eden Dene, as a location used in the closing scenes of the cult Michael Caine movie 'Get Carter'.
In the film, Jack Carter (played by Michael Caine) pursues Eric Paice, finally catching up with him on clifftops between Horden and Blackhall Rocks.
After cornering Eric, Jack forces him to drink a large amount of whiskey before finishing him off and dumping his body into a mechanical coal conveyor bucket, which carries it out to be dumped into the sea!
