Aside from quitting their job, what people in this situation can do in their out-of-workplace mode to contribute to systemic change, if in a country without #Codetermination [1] or with a weak tradition of cooperatives [2][3], is join orgs/networks that campaign for legislation for codetermination, cooperatives, other #WorkplaceDemocracy [4].

It's not always easy to avoid double taxation. If I sell some funds in my IRA and withdraw the money the following year, then the sale is taxable as capital gains in Sweden, and the withdrawal as work income in the US. Different categories in different years. If anyone knows a tax specialist for both countries, please let me know.

Between having to stay inside due to bushfire smoke, having to be hyperaware of them being ~10km north, south, and east, pandemic, lockdowns, border closures, “business as usual” attitudes, the worst flooding this region has experienced in recorded history, and then interest rate increases, I lost the majority of my coping mechanisms and work.
I managed to get diagnosed shortly after most of the above, but a mixture of anxiety medication emotional flattening and ADHD executive dysfunction caused me to not fear homelessness. I went through months of thinking “if I don’t do these things I’ll be homeless”, not being able to do anything about it and unsurprisingly becoming homeless, before I managed to break out of the worst of the executive dysfunction.
My situation is now considerably worse than it was, but I feel so much better as that I’ve been able to start working on it all again (especially since a med review a fortnight or so ago: #MedLog).
