Aside from quitting their job, what people in this situation can do in their out-of-workplace mode to contribute to systemic change, if in a country without #Codetermination [1] or with a weak tradition of cooperatives [2][3], is join orgs/networks that campaign for legislation for codetermination, cooperatives, other #WorkplaceDemocracy [4].

I assume that graph is for the US?

Don't forget #Codetermination - worker representation on corporate boards of directors [1] - which exists in the majority (not the US) of OECD countries in some form or other. That's complementary to unions: it's direct workers' participation in the top level of power.

  3. It was time again for the annual general assembly of our shareholders and the dinner that followed. 🤝 Being a shareholder of our company shows that employees want to do more than just be employed by us – they can have their say and weigh in on important business decisions. ✅ By the way: after the general assembly in our office, we enjoyed a delicious meal at the DAR restaurant in Zurich. We are already looking forward to next year! 🚀 #assembly #shareholder #codetermination #company #nine

  5. CW: Long thread/18

Truman released the figures proving that higher wages didn't have to come with higher prices. GM caved. Workers got their raise. Truman touched the "third rail of American capitalism" - #CoDetermination, the idea that workers should have a say in how their employers ran their businesses.

Co-determination is common in other countries - notably Germany - but American capitalists are violently allergic to the idea.

  6. (From Mark Angelo's page)

    My book is finished!

‘A fascinating insider account of some of the most remarkable episodes in outlaw rave culture. With a cast of suitably hardcore characters, Mark Angelo Harrison chronicles how Spiral Tribe’s determination to stage free parties set them on a collision course with the authorities.’
Matthew Collin, author of Altered State and Rave On

The book is now on its way to the typesetter for printing and the September launch. Many thanks to all the people who've contributed their time, energy and enthusiasm!
Also to Colin and Paul at Velocity and my early supporters who pre-ordered the book.

There is now one week left before printing. If you’d like to be credited, in the book by name as a pre-order supporter (or credit a friend) the deadline is Tuesday 8th August.
Click through to Velocity Press below.

A Darker Electricity is on pre-order now from Velocity, and will hit the streets in September – available in all good book shops and record stores.
