Manually copying database credentials into env vars is tedious and error-prone, especially once they change and nobody remembers to update them.
Deploio now has Service Connections: connect an app to a database, key-value store, or OpenSearch, and we inject credentials automatically and encrypted as env vars, starting with the next release.
Currently in beta, via our CLI nctl. Full details: https://docs.nine.ch/docs/deplo-io/configuration/deploio-connecting-to-services/

Dark mode is here. 🌙
If you prefer working in the dark, you'll feel at home on nine.ch. We've implemented dark mode for our website, including thoughtful color contrast for readability and consistent image and logo display.
Not a world-changing feature, but one that makes everyday browsing a bit nicer, especially when you're looking something up late in the evening. 👀
Try it out, switch the mode in the top right. What do you think?

Go with no OS, running directly on the chip: our highlight at GopherCon Europe 2026 in Berlin. 🐹
Go powers Kubernetes, Prometheus, and much of the cloud native stack we build on.
Talk highlight: TamaGo by Andrea Barisani. Go on bare metal ARM, no OS, no C code, all the way to Confidential VMs. No C means fewer memory safety bugs. 🔒
How we use Go ourselves: our CLI tool nctl is open source: https://github.com/ninech/nctl

Managing Kubernetes or using Kubernetes?
Most teams want to use it, not manage it, ideally on Swiss infrastructure instead of a hyperscaler with CLOUD Act exposure.
With Nine Kubernetes Engine (NKE), get a production-ready cluster, provisioned in minutes, no infrastructure setup, no ops overhead. We run the control plane, autoscaling, monitoring, and backups.
No CLOUD Act and – depending on the product – full kubectl access. 🇨🇭

Why did we replace Google Analytics with Matomo? 🔒
Google is a US company with potential CLOUD Act access, and its consent banner led to incomplete stats. As a Swiss cloud provider, we felt we should use our own infrastructure for tracking instead.
The result: Matomo, cookieless with anonymized IPs, on Swiss infrastructure. Typically no consent banner needed, and stats are more complete than ever. 🇨🇭

One nctl create opensearch, and your search platform is running, no infrastructure project needed. 🔍
On-Demand OpenSearch is available via Nine Cockpit and nctl, in version 2 and 3 (we recommend 3). Pick an instance type, we handle ops, scaling, and infrastructure.
Single-node for dev/test, or multi-node (3 instances) for high availability. Storage auto-expands but can't shrink afterward. 🚀

Ten years at Nine: that's no small thing. 🎉
Dear Antonios, for a decade you've been exactly the person a team needs: calm when others lose their head, reliable when it counts, and always knowing the right moment for a drink after work.
We're glad you've been part of our Nine story for ten years. Here's to many more. 🥂
What makes a team or company worth staying at for the long run?

TechTalk #28, early June.
Three talks: overprivileged non-human identities as a modern attack path (Kleeo GmbH), a personal toolkit against complexity built on questionnaires and feature maps (House of Test Switzerland), and on-demand database provisioning, Postgres or MySQL in under 10 seconds, live demonstrated by our engineering team.

"Deploy my Rails app to Deploio." That's it. 🤖
We've published a Claude Code skill for Deploio, built by Renuo AG, with five sub-skills: deploy from zero to a live URL, manage scaling and logs, debug crashes and build errors autonomously, provision databases, and wire up CI/CD.

It's summer holiday season everywhere in Switzerland. 🏖️
Our support keeps running as usual, including a 24/7 emergency service and no matter which service level you have as a customer (chargeable outside office hours). Someone from our engineering team gets back to you with a first assessment.
Enjoy your holidays, we've got the rest covered. 😊

We practice what we preach. 🔒 We replaced Google Analytics with self-hosted Matomo across all platforms: website, docs.nine.ch, Cockpit, & the deplo.io landing page. Cookieless, with anonymized IPs, no persistent user-ID tracking, & an opt-out page. No consent banner needed. Not a huge milestone, but it shows how we think. If we promise Swiss data sovereignty, we start with ourselves. 🇨🇭 Do you self-host Matomo? Curious about your experience. #matomo #analytics #nine

Our first Kubernetes webinar is behind us. 🎉
Davor spent an hour on Kubernetes, NKE, and Deploio, with a live demo on both platforms.
Deploio needs one command for the standard case, no YAML or kubectl. Advanced config (size, env vars, deploy jobs) uses an optional .deploio.yaml.
Both run on our Swiss infrastructure. It depends on how much control you need and how much Kubernetes knowledge you want to invest. 🇨🇭

Goodbye formal address, hello "du", everywhere. The German versions of nine.ch, docs.nine.ch and now our Cockpit are all switched to the informal, direct form of address.
Not a trend, just our take on honest communication at eye level, the way good tech collaboration should feel.
Happy Weekend!

Personal support instead of an anonymous ticket system: real engineers who know your topic.

A normal Thursday, 8:29 AM: a Slack message about CVE-2026-31431, "Copy Fail", a Linux kernel 0-day. A few lines of Python turn an unprivileged user into root – being a 0-day, no patch existed yet.
One engineer verified the exploit, one researched the fix, one rolled it out, one checked the fleet and one tested it, all within about an hour. No escalation, no drama. NKE and Deploio ran on Flatcar Container Linux, unaffected.

Vibe Code Fest 2026 recap: we were main sponsor with Deploio, 106 participants, 30 apps & a full hackathon day.
Tom joined the panel «When CEOs (re)write code using AI». Key takeaway: the biggest shift is not the tool, it's the willingness to just start.
Deploio: git push, your app runs on Swiss infrastructure, no YAML or ops overhead.
