  1. I personally* have been very happy and impressed with Kaiser Permanente so far (honestly, they're an order of magnitude better than any HMO in Massachusetts)

    but...

...major fail in scheduling w/ gastro. Can only do via phone, not online, hold times are utterly ridiculous and when I left a message to get a call back, never did.

(* yes I'm sure many people have issues with KP. Don't @ me)

  4. ugh! Bought a new deck of Bicycle playing cards and they're gross and plastic.

    Terrible feel.

Maybe this is just the way playing cards are now? I haven't bought any for decades. Is there a better brand?

  5. Came across this, from a poem by W. H. Auden (from a book @ZaneSelvans recommended that I just got out of the library)

    I love this so much:

From Letter to Elizabeth Mayer: (January 1, 1940) [published in The Atlantic 1941]

How hard it is to set aside
    Terror, concupiscence and pride,
Learn who and where and how we are,
The children of a modest star,
Frail, backward, clinging to the granite
Skirts of a sensible old planet,
    Our placid and suburban nurse
    In Sitter’s swelling universe,
    How hard to stretch imagination
To live according to our station.

  10. Yesterday was a long work day! (it's okay, it was by my own choice)

Going to have a number of those in January I think. We have project that *really* needs to get done in the first quarter, and I think we're on track for it, but we do seem to be in a phase at the moment of "oh, here's a new wrinkle..."

In any case, I'm very grateful to have what seems to be steady work, with good people, not doing evil things.

  11. Go me. Ran 2 errands today on bike. Well, it helps that it has stopped raining for a bit. (Today has been pretty damn gorgeous)

Resolved to try and do more on bike in the new year.

  14. @DeliaChristina 😆 I LOVE that one. Was trying to explain it to friends over drinks the other night (it was too noisy to just play it for them)

(I was going to post that one to our work Slack #jams channel but... edges just close enough to NSFW. So no.)

    Merry christmas!

  15. I'm mostly liking the christmas playlist on KDFC but the current piece is (I think) the Three Tenors doing Feliz Navidad and... nope, sorry.

(I'm not a fan of big tenor voices in general, honestly)

  17. Petaluma 4th Annual Lighted Bike Ride was so much fun last night! And the rain (well, misting) stopped for exactly the duration of it!

  18. brb, off to Petaluma 4th Annual Lighted Bike Ride!

    (my 1st Annual, of course)

    (in the rain)

(but that's why the goddess invented rain pants)
