  1. Hype for the Future 148K: The Bay Area Defined

Introduction Within the State of California, the Bay Area refers primarily to the San Francisco Bay Area located along all portions of the eponymous bay. Beginning in Marin County and heading clockwise, the counties are Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Solano, Contra Costa, Alameda, Santa Clara, San Mateo, and San Francisco. 2. I've been adding historical information and documents into Logseq for the past few weeks. I just add a little bit each evening, and create back-links, and proofread things. It parallels nicely with my work in QGIS.

What a really interesting learning project for me. Fun stuff.

Here is what the "Graph View" looks like so far.

  7. Redwood Dream

I captured this image one early morning in Muir Woods. These trees have always amazed me with their height, beauty, and the resiliency to the environment around them.
There is a special mysticism that can be felt as you walk around these trees and feel the soft bark of these giants.
Created using a slow shutter and in camera movement.

It’s just over 30 years old and my Marin’s still going strong. It may be old by today’s standards, but as bikes go, it’s still hard to beat, and was a fantastic buy in 1994!

  9. @macnchez @pleaseclap That is not exactly true. The #WWII #SFBA shipyards were fully unionized. #Marinship, in #Sausalito, began with Black workers in auxiliary locals with lower wages than the white workers in the boilermakers unions. However, “In 1944 in the case of James v. Marinship the California Supreme Court held that African Americans could not be excluded from jobs based on their race, even if the employer took no discriminatory actions. … Thurgood Marshall successfully argued the case, winning a ruling that the union be required to offer equal membership to African Americans.” #MarinCity was built nearby as the first federally funded integrated public housing. Sadly, even though there was no official redlining in #MarinCounty, the local #Realtors and #bankers refused to issue mortgages or sell homes to #AfricanAmericans. In addition, when the shipyards closed and the soldiers came home, Black workers lost their jobs and were not allowed to get private union jobs.
