  1. My colleague Maciej is working on preparing #snapd for submission into #openSUSE Factory. There's a very long standing thread from security review at bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi and, after a few years, we believe we've provided all the changes that were originally requested.

    Snapd is many things but one of the key properties is a strong desire to build an ecosystem founded on strong security principles. The path to the summit is long and winding but we make progress every day.

  6. TIL: Looks like running `transactional-update` for update your machine might break some post-installation RPM scripts. Using `transactional-update shell` and `zypper up` on the other hand works like a charm.

    The new installer has no #Finnish localization, and as far as I can see, the installer is not included in #Weblate #L10N so that I could translate it myself.

    The storage setup is a disaster. Unless one blindly accepts whatever is suggested, things turn either difficult or downright impossible. Eg. setting up a dedicated /usr/local or a custom mountpoint like my /local is a no-go. #linux #floss 1/2
