1. We went for a late walk, Steven, Joni and I and caught this beautiful sunset! We don't often see a sunset on our walls these days as we walk earlier. Such a treat.
2. I slept really well last night after an Epson salts bath. That's always a good thing. And I did my morning exercise routine including running on the spot for over 10 minutes.
3. I received my order of spring planting garlic as I realised that one bed of 8'x4' is not enough for us. Last year's crop is nearly all eaten already. So if this works we'll have plenty for next year.
Goodnight all!

I didn't think I had them, but just the thinking reminded me and I felt better.
1. Saw our first hummingbird of the year
2. I was able to post another of our ( @StevenKennard 's and mine PeerTube) video concert slideshows, featuring Connie Kaldor. I've been wanting to post this for ages, so it feels good to get it out there!
(If you missed it https://makertube.net/w/78j17mQoxvKoYFfwfBvNW5 )3. We went for an hour's bike ride and cleared our heads and minds though it was overcast. There was not really any wind (does that make it 4 good things?)

Take a listen to (and watch) this beautiful song by Canadian singer, Connie Kaldor in concert, featuring great photography by @StevenKennard .
This is an excellent example of her skillful and sensitive portrayal of Canadian prairie life for which she is acclaimed.

Hooray!
First hummingbird sighting this year! It was a ruby throated male.
No photos, he was moving too fast .

🧵 1/41. @StevenKennard finished the stereo cabinet he's been working on for us, and brought it into the house. It's made in solid maple, with the side slats in birdseye (érable piqué) and the rest of the frame, shelves and top in curly (quilted or tiger) maple. It's not easy to show it in photographs, but the figuring is really gorgeous and looks different depending on the light and the viewing angle. He has spent so many years making beautiful furniture for other people, it's a real joy to have this piece for our home. (It's not the first piece he's made for us, just the first in a long while.)
2. We enjoyed a delicious Mexican fair trade 'green' (organic practices) oat milk cappuccino with a 'superfood bite' that hit the spot! I adapted the usual recipe to include unsweetened chocolate chips and that really paired it perfectly with the coffee. The local shortage of 85% chocolate has left a hole in our morning coffee ritual and this has now filled it!
3. I ran (and jumped) for over 10 minutes as part of my morning workout today. For the first 250 steps (running after the workout) I wonder how I'd be able to go on, but after that, I felt I could almost run forever. Almost.
Have a lovely Sunday, everyone!

1. It was a Red Letter Day! I got a chance to chat on Signal with my dear young Iranian friend living in Tehran who briefly got online. We were so glad to be able to get her news and to hear that she and her family are safe. She said there's been no attacks in the city since the cease fire. I told her not to take risks just to reassure me. I'd rather never hear from her again than to know she got herself in terrible trouble for my sake. She said she knows how to make sure she's safe. Such wonderful, precious few moments!
2. We had a visit from 2 groups of friends we haven't seen in a while, as the weather allowed for comfortable outdoor conversations. It was so lovely to see them all. I've noticed that friends always try to time a visit in May to see our Magnolia tree. I can't blame them. This tree was just over 6 feet when we moved here and is now about 30 feet tall!
3. I made a delicious lunch with (coconut) yogurt curry coated tofu, spinach and mushrooms in that yogurt sauce, potatoes and vegetables with enough for lunch tomorrow. Sometimes (eg yesterday) food has to be quick and easy, so today was a treat that took a little longer but was so worth it. And I made a fresh batch of those superfood bites ready for coffee time tomorrow.
Have a lovely weekend, all!

Ellie has settled in for an afternoon nap.
I am tempted to follow her example. -
Zaz is on hummingbird watch this morning, hoping to be the first to spot one this year. I know she'll let us know if she sees one. So far all she sees is magnolia flowers and Steven walking to the workshop.
Happy #Caturday to all who celebrate!

@elliek asks:
Is there a flexible rod sideways out from the seatpost into the road, w/warning flag, the length of the required distance from the cyclists to an overtaking vehicle?
I think my husband's seen one, spring mounted to not cause an accident, but enough to encourage a driver to go farther out to avoid damage to their car.
Q2. Does this exist? Is it legal?
I've seen vertical flags, but that's not what I want. Drivers come too close.

Wait for me!
1. Today was a day I went for a joyride (bike ride that brought me joy), but all on my own. I had Tony with me (more on Tony another time, he's my mascot), but Steven was busy finishing our stereo unit (wait for that one!) and I went to get the mail (1km away) in a roundabout trip of 10km. I had to go slowly through the puddles in the woods as we had had some quite heavy rain, but otherwise it was a quick ride around the block. I gambled and took a road that we usually try and avoid due to the usual traffic. In all the distance I only met one vehicle coming towards me and one behind me, both at the same time and the one behind me decided to overtake below the brow of the hill. The good thing is that there was no collision! The driver of the car coming towards me might never recover his nerves, but mine (and Tony's) stayed steady.
2. I managed to arrange my father-in-law's usual grocery delivery (he's in the UK, I'm in Canada) with minimum stress, despite the fact that Tesco's online ordering calender is one day out of true (book your delivery for Saturday the 9th for actual delivery Sunday the 10th) and everything went smoothly.
3. There were 2 more deer on the #trailcam so here they are for you.
