@BitchinRob @DenOfEarth @Basmitharts @ajpbradley It’s the blue smoke and oil burning that I notice mostly in the myriad collectors’ cars around my neighborhood. That smell always makes me feel nauseous. Memories of a misspent childhood or something, and switchbacks in the Alps… 🤷♂️
I’ve only ridden as a passenger in a #Citroën #TractionAvant once.

@Mark @DenOfEarth @driveelectronic @i3roadtrip Ah! Of course!
I see quite a few here in SoCal, but it’s being taken over by the Stelvio now, and probably the Tonale before long.
Still, #AlfaRomeo now sell more cars in 🇺🇸 than #Jaguar, even if the numbers are still rather small. The designs do seem compelling IMHO.
One other I thought worthy of mention is the #Peugeot508 hybrid but we won’t get that in 🇺🇸.

#HangTrekSolved by @DenOfEarth. Qapla’!
ANSWER:
“Let there be light.” The last words of Gideon Seyetik (DS9 S2E09 “Second Sight”)
@DenOfEarth, you may run the next puzzle, nominate someone else to do so or pass.

@SteveInVentura @vinc @DenOfEarth I just noticed from linking to that article that:
“BMW sold more EVs in 2024 than Audi and Mercedes-Benz combined”
I don’t think it will matter to me if the design is shared. What will matter is how much they improve their battery technology, as promised, and driving dynamics.

@John @dan @DenOfEarth @ZeKik @MarSolRivas I’d never encountered Robertson square heads before the #Roadtrek
I find they are brilliant
Even when well corroded (the head will snap off before it strips the head) and it’s so easy to hold the screw on the driver to position and line up the screw one handed 👍 -

@Basmitharts @Mark @DenOfEarth As promised, the dashboard on the #CitroenCX.
One is automatic. The selector position is frequently shown under the speedometer with column mounted shifters, but in this case, the shifter is down between the two front seats.
The other shows the switches either side of the steering column for ease of reach. No stalks at all.
Note the floating dials for the speedometer and rev counter.

@md @Basmitharts @Mark @DenOfEarth I think the #CitroenDS is a Robert Opron design. And also the “replacement” CX.

So…
I went shopping a few hours ago…
It’s a short 1.3 mile drive from my 🏡 to Trader Joe’s market…
Of course, I saw @DenOfEarth’s BMW i3. Again. Like I do every time I leave the 🏡
But just as I was turning into the parking lot, I saw a pristine bright blue #Peugeot404 coupé drive by! 😱
Alert the f’ing media!
Call 911! 🚨
Inform @DavidObuchowski and #WeirdCarMastodon!
I wanted to turn around and follow it, but alas, duty called, so it was not to be. 🤷♂️

@driveelectronic @i3roadtrip Fabulous little automobile! I love them every time I see one (which is most days).
@DenOfEarth likes to punch his through snow banks all the time, up there in the Great White Canadian North! 😂
Have you figured out how much the performance is affected by the cold?

@David_Edmondson: Thanks, but I prefer designs which stay close to the #Citroën #CX Break's silhouette.
The only other 3-axle CX Break I really admire is #Tissier's 7m long #CX14 with high roof and 6 doors: http://www.sixmania.fr/en/citroen-tissier-cx14-1981/ (I don't like most of Tissier's rather edgy and bulky CX-based ambulance and delivery van designs. #Pijpops definitely did more eye-pleasing designs.)
And I already have a (normal) CX Break in my garage… 😎

The Answer to yesterday's #NameThatCar challenge... where I did my best to disguise a beautiful and truly iconic car, by sharing a photo of a bit no one normally notices! The car in question was a 1970's Jaguar E-Type convertible.
Well done if you identified it, bonus points to @DenOfEarth who also identified the colour!
Thanks for all the guesses.

Teslas everywhere you look. No, seriously: they’re just so boring now! 😬
Porsche Taycan in the school line! 😁
BMW i4 was right behind it.
BMW i3 - I always love seeing those @DenOfEarth! 🤷♂️
Hyundai Ioniq 5.
Ford Lightning and a Rivian. Yup. They’re regular sightings now.Of the none-EV’s two stand out:
Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio.
Volvos have definitely made a comeback too.All of that 👆 in just TWO MILES! 😳

Had to use my phone camera to read the fine print on these digital price tags.
Illegible even when crouching to get a closer look.
Does the box even show how many are inside so I can do the math myself? No. #enshittification
