Picked up a #Sega #Saturn last week. Today my Saroo cartridge came in and I was able to play the Saturn for the first time in my life. Played some Daytona, Die Hard Arcade (that one was fun!), Dead or Alive (though Kasumi had a weird graphical glitch), Battle Arena Toshinden, Tempest 2000 (for me the #Atari #Jaguar version is the one to play) and a quick round of Die Hard 2 from the Trilogy (which I already have on #Playstation).
First impression: fun console!

Picked up a #Sega #Saturn last week. Today my Saroo cartridge came in and I was able to play the Saturn for the first time in my life. Born this day in 1909 Leo Fender. Founder of Fender Musical Instruments. Leo Fender's first joint patent was filed in September 1944 alongside partner Clayton Orr "Doc" Kauffman. They patented an electric lap steel guitar featuring a string-through-body pickup design that Leo Fender had previously developed. This collaboration led to the creation of the K&F Manufacturing Corporation and, later, the Fender electric instrument legacy.
In 1950 the company released the Esquire, a thin body, fast neck electric that wouldn't feedback when played at volume of dance halls. Adding a second pick-up in '51 we had the Broadcaster which became the Telecaster. Still one of the most popular electric guitars for any genre.
The sounds we hear today might be very different if not for Leo Fender.

As you might know, I really like the Atari Jaguar. It's a console with a ton of potential and not as bad a library of games as some Youtubers might want you to believe. Look at what talented coders have done at JagJam since 2024! And this year seems to be one for 3D fans on the Jag: Someone ported NFS from 3DO over to Jaguar to prove a point, and the most recent version is slow, yes, but seems almost playable. Then another person used Claude Code to get Tomb Raider (Open Lara) working on the Jag. Well, kind of: It's really early and really slow, but again: draw distance and resolution are impressive. And then there is Jagracer from the same guy who ported NFS for fun. It's its own thing and could surely use some more tweaking, but it's the most advanced game of the bunch. And none of them are yet part of JagJam 2026, where 13 people are registered to hopefully submit other awesome game ideas until the end of October. So maybe this will become the year of the Jaguar, who knows? Cheers!

Le Mans, 1956.
With a camera mounted to his Jaguar D-Type and a microphone attached to his face, Mike Hawthorn created one of the earliest and most detailed onboard laps ever recorded in motorsport.
He had won Le Mans the previous year with Jaguar and would go on to become the first British Formula One World Champion in 1958.

An exhausted jaguar with a hurt paw was discovered napping on the Leticia campus of Colombia National University. It was rescued and taken to a place where it could receive fluids, etc., but fled on Wednesday night, possibly frightened by fireworks celebrating Colombia's victory over Uzbekistan in that night's world cup night. It was later seen on the grounds of my tutor's former high school. Hopefully it makes its way back to the wilderness without incident! #jaguar #Amazonas #Colombia
