  1. @dan: My #Citroën CX Break has 790kg (1740 pounds) payload capacity. And I already managed to overload it — just with moving boxes full of books and clothes. (Ok, and the bearing load of a trailer.) The border control suspected it and sent me on a gauge. IIRC the CX was about 90kg (200lbs) above the allowed total weight. And they didn't fine me and let me continue my journey, maybe because the CX still seemed to handle it totally fine. 😇

  2. @Dylan oh this is fun! 😂

Found on the Tube… a person demonstrates the dual function little beep 🆚 big honk in the #CitroënCX 📯

That would probably require a two step switch though.

  3. @vinc @DenOfEarth @lionelb @nlarson830 that one is actually on my list, or the CX Prestige with the vinyl roof, or the GTi.

Some of them even have air conditioning. I believe it is regulated, rather than climate control, so some manual interventions are needed, but that was true of many luxury vehicles from that era.

I especially want a taste of the floating sphere speedometer and tachometer, seen here on an automatic version.

  4. One of my all-time favorite dashboards is the 1970’s #CitroënCX, especially in this automatic version. Note the lighted shifter position indication, even though the shifter is on the floor, not next to the steering column.

The speedometer and rev counter were both floating, and changed color as the reading increased.

No stalk controls are present. Everything is switched within easy reach.

  5. @Basmitharts @Mark @DenOfEarth As promised, the dashboard on the #CitroenCX.

One is automatic. The selector position is frequently shown under the speedometer with column mounted shifters, but in this case, the shifter is down between the two front seats.

The other shows the switches either side of the steering column for ease of reach. No stalks at all.

Note the floating dials for the speedometer and rev counter.
