Kosmochlor vs Azurite (planetary science edition)
How Kool is that? Kosmochloric Ca-rich pyroxenes with olivine (Kool grains) were found in dust particles collected from comet 81P/Wild by the Stardust spacecraft.
Although azurite has not been found yet on Mars, Curiosity has detected enhanced abundanced of copper at Gale crater. Azurite is usually found in oxidized zones of Cu-bearing ore deposits.

Pollucite vs Tugtupite (planetary science edition - kinda)
Neither has been deteced on other planets.
Pollucite belongs to the zeolite group and is the Cs analog of analcime. Analcime was deteced on Mars by visible-near infrared spectra from orbit.
Tugtupite is a member of the feldspathoid group and can be found in alkali-rich igneous rocks. Alkali-rich (high K; Na could not be measured) basalts were measured by Venera 13 on the surface of Venus.

Sanidine vs Hematite (planetary science edition)
While plagioclase is the dominant feldspar on Mars, high concentrations of sanidine were measured in the Windjana drill sample by Curiosity in Gale crater but it is present in other drill samples.
Hematite is a common mineral on Mars but is particularly abundant in a feature called Vera Rubin ridge at Gale crater. The presence of gray hematite in one sample suggeste hydrothermal precipitation.

Silver vs Baryte (planetary science edition)
Silver occurs as trace element in primitive chondrites and iron meteorites. Silver isotope ratios for chondrites are similar to those on Earth suggesting no fractionation.
Baryte has not yet been detected on Mars but calcium sulfates are common and some rocks in Gale crater are enriched in barium.
-
Calcite vs Perovskite (planetary science edition)
Most carbonates on Mars are Fe and Mg-rich (so siderite-dolomite) but the infamous meteorite Allan Hills 84001 also containts some rare calcite.
(Mg, Fe)SiO3 perovskite (same structure as CaTiO3) can form by dissociation of olivine in shocked martian meteorites (for example: shergottite Dar al Gani 735) recording extreme pressure and temperature conditions of at least 25 GPa, 700°C.
-
Stibnite vs Okenite (planetary science edition)
Stibnite may precipitate on the surface of Venus if there is sufficient antimony in the atmosphere. Minerals with high dielectric properties such as stibnite have been suggested as cause for the lower radar emissivity of certain regions but there are other options.
Okenite has not been detected on other planets but often occurs together with zeolites in geodes within basalt. Zeolites were detected on Mars.
-
Chrysotile vs Pectolite (planetary science edition)
Chrysotile, a member of the serpentine group, has been found in meteorites, for example in an aqueously altered fragment from the Almahata Sita meteorite together with amphiboles.
Pectolite occurs in the hydrothermally altered central uplift of the Manicouagan impact structure in Canada together with analcime, thompsonite, hematite, prehnite and anhydrite.

Nutrition Security for Planetary Health by Irana Hawkins, 2025
Using the lens of nutrition security and equity for the living beings and living systems of the planet, Nutrition Security for Planetary Health takes an integrated, systems approach that not only delineates the antecedents of the multifaceted environmental crises—but offers solutions including the extensive co-benefits of whole plant foods #nutrition as the foundational dietary pattern for improving planetary health.
