  1. Wake up!
    It is time to muse!
    🤔 🎶 🤘

Drawing inspiration from the inaugural episode of "Once Upon A Time, Tomorrow" on the Redefining Society Podcast on ITSPmagazine Podcast Network — embedded within this article — I delve into humanity's evolving bond with technology.

Many thanks to my fellow thinkers: Sean Martin, Carey D'Souza, and Rafael Brown. You are all partially responsible for these weird thoughts that swirl in my head! 🤣

From the Industrial Revolution to the digital age, each advancement has introduced unforeseen challenges and undeniable allure.

As the AI era dawns, especially within realms like entertainment, resistance re-emerges, echoing past technological transitions. However, faced with the relentless march of progress, perhaps our focus should shift from resistance to informed adaptation, ensuring that wisdom, not just innovation, leads the way.

I hope you enjoy this piece, share it, and subscribe to my newsletter for many more musing on Society & Technology pieces. 🤔

  21. Guess what!
🎙️✨ AUDIO SIGNALS IS BACK ✨🎙️
After a few months of hiatus, I couldn't stay away.
My passion for storytellers and storytelling cannot be tamed—and I'm thrilled to return with a conversation that reminds me why this podcast matters.
Meet Bradley W. Buchanan —retired English professor, two-time blood cancer survivor, and debut novelist who just released Spy's Mate, a gripping chess thriller set in Cold War Soviet Union.

    Why This Episode Matters:
Brad is what's medically called a "chimera"—his DNA was literally altered by a stem cell transplant. He was blind for a year and a half. He nearly died multiple times. Through it all, he had chess dreams where the pieces hunted him across the board.

His novel isn't just a spy thriller. It's a deeply personal story about Yasha, an Armenian chess prodigy who promises his dying mother he'll become world chess champion—a promise that drives him through a world where the KGB manipulates tournaments and chess prowess equals communist superiority.

Brad wrote this after his own mother died. He cried writing the final pages, giving his protagonist the closure he couldn't have in real life.

What We Explored: ♟️ How the KGB used psychological warfare in chess tournaments ♟️ Writing a novel that works as both myth and historical thriller ♟️ The personal cost of storytelling and processing grief through fiction ♟️ Why he wrote this like a screenplay (calling Netflix!) ♟️ Surviving cancer and finding new purpose as a full-time writer ♟️ The hero's journey through 64 squares

This is storytelling at its most human—where personal trauma transforms into universal narrative, where a game becomes life and death, where a son's promise to his mother echoes through pages of Cold War intrigue.

  22. When ransomware target your backups first, your recovery plan becomes your vulnerability. 🤔

94% of ransomware-hit companies had their backups attacked. Think about that—these aren't random strikes. They're calculated campaigns to eliminate your safety net before demanding ransom.

Join me, Sean Martin, CISSP, Anthony Cusimano ( Object First ) tomorrow for a critical business conversation about absolute immutability and why traditional backup approaches fail against modern ransomware tactics.

Just dropped our most comprehensive newsletter yet—featuring 22+ conversations from Las Vegas that go way beyond the typical conference buzz.

From "data kidnapping" replacing ransomware to the reality check on agentic AI hype, we covered the stories that actually matter. Not just what vendors are selling, but what security practitioners are really thinking about.

    What's inside:

→ Deep conversations with leaders from Apono, Zscaler, CyberSN, runZero, Stellar Cyber, BLACKCLOAK, ThreatLocker, Akamai Technologies, Dropzone AI, BlinkOps, ReversingLabs, Crogl, Inc. and more companies

→ Hard truths about #cybersecurity hiring, vendor novelty, and #CISO burnout

→ Philosophical reflections on #AI, #humanity, and what we risk when machines make our decisions

→ Practical insights on automation, vulnerability management, and supply chain transparency

Plus exciting news about ITSPmagazine Studio (our new brand advisory for cybersecurity and technology companies) and ITSPmagazine Europe (transatlantic conversations on tech, security, and society with Rob Black ).

This isn't just event coverage—it's the kind of substantive dialogue our industry needs. The conversations that challenge assumptions, explore nuance, and connect technology decisions to human outcomes.

  29. Who or what do we blindly trust with our #health? 🤔

    White Coats or Black Boxes?

Some thoughts on AI, medicine, human judgment, and how #AI could help us think more instead of less.

Reflections from a conversation with #healthcare leaders on trust, transparency, and who really benefits from AI in #medicine

I grew up in a world where you didn't question your doctor. You didn't ask about lab results. You didn't research your medications. "Doctor's orders" was gospel.

My grandmother never saw her own test results. She wouldn't have known what to do with them anyway.

We like to think we've evolved past that. But have we? Or have we just traded blind trust in white coats for blind trust in #algorithms?

That's the question that kept surfacing in my head after this Expert Panel Discussion I hosted with Sean Martin, CISSP and an extraordinary group of people:

Dr. Robert Pearl, M.D. (former CEO, The Permanente Medical Group, Inc.)

    Robert Havasy (HIMSS)

John Sapp Jr (Texas Mutual Insurance Company)

    Jim St. Clair (Altarum)

    Robert Booker (HITRUST)

We gathered to discuss AI in healthcare. What emerged was something deeper: a reckoning with how we've always delegated medical decisions—and whether AI might actually force us to become smarter, more analytical, more inquisitive about our own health.

Here's my theory: AI doesn't have to make us dumber. It could make us think more, not less. But only if we choose to engage. Only if we demand transparency. Only if we resist trading one form of blind trust for another.

400,000 people die annually from misdiagnoses in America. That's not AI failure—that's human failure we've learned to accept.

The question isn't whether AI will transform healthcare. It already is.

The question is: Will we finally start asking questions?

About our doctors AND our algorithms?

Then tell me—what kind of trust are we building? Who benefits? Who bears the risk?

Let's keep exploring what it means to be human in this Hybrid Analog Digital Society.

  30. 82% of enterprises are running AI agents they don't know about.

That number came out of #RSAC Conference 2026 — and it wasn't the most alarming stat on the table.

Sean Martin sat back down with Itamar Apelblat, Co-Founder and CEO of Token Security, to unpack what he heard walking the show floor and what the CSA data now makes impossible to ignore: 65% of organizations have already had an AI agent-related incident in the last twelve months. 82% found agents in their environment that nobody authorized. Only 21% have any formal process to retire an agent when it's done.

Discovery alone is not governance. Intent-based enforcement is. That's where this conversation lands — and it's worth your time.

A huge thank you to the team at Token Security for joining Sean Martin and Marco Ciappelli on this journey — both on the floor at #RSAC2026 and in the recap. We loved sharing your story and we're looking forward to many more conversations ahead. 🙌
